2003 Ford F150 Heater fan problem

I have a 2003 ford f150 , the heater fan only works on HI. I was told it is the rheostat. Where is the Rheostat located and how do I get into it. Is it a simple job I can do myself. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I found it under the dash beneath the glove box. There were 3 screws holding a cover panel. After removing the panel the resistor was tucked up under the dash next to the fan. There are 2 screws holding it in. Took out screws and dropped it down to take wiring plug off. Picked up new resistor at local Ford dealer($27.22) and had it back in in no time. I used a mirror and trouble light to see under the dash, easier than trying to get up under myself. Thanks again!!

The problem is the Blower Motor Resistor Pack is defective. Purchase the Pack so you will know what you are looking for. It can be located in a few locations. It can be behind the glove box, behind the kick panel on the passenger side, or next to the blower motor. I am almost certain yours is located behind the glove box but not 100% sure. Hope this helps you.

I have a 2003 Ford F-150 FX4 5.4 and the AC only blows out of the defrost and help

Dustin, Sound like vacuum loss to position switch. Defrost is the default position when vacuum is lost in vent control system. Check any and all vacuum lines and connections under hood first, especially any that run through firewall. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Low speed heater or ac fan doesn't work

There is a multi-speed rheostat located under the dash, it goes into the heater box. You can purchase at O'reilleys and install in about 20 minutes.

That sounds like the heater motor rheostat is faulty, it's usually situated on the heater housing close to the blower motor

My heater fan only works on the 3 and 4 speeds

Hi,
Common problem here, The heater motor resistor has to be checked, (located in air-flow ) between motor housing and ducting to heater assy ! Usually 4/5 wired componant located for cooling purposes in air duct governing the heater motor voltage ! Good Luck

2003 f150 heater core is leaking . I need amanual so I CAN MAKE SURE I'M TAKING THE DASH APART THE RIGHT WAY.

Go to Auto Zone or O'Rieley's auto parts and purchase the Haynes manual for your year, make and model. Haynes usually has a better section on the dash and heater disassembly process.
