I have 2007 lexus es350. The paint is peeling around the sunroof. What can I do?

would be the clear coat peeling you are seeing
should not need a full roof respray unless very bad

best option
get a quote from a car spray painter re-gel coat the roof
takes a fine sanding the roof area that is peeling
and a few coats of clear cote gel
and buff to a great finish

Where should I look for rain water leak?

Most water leaks come from around the windshield area. Has the windshield been replaces recently? If so it may not be sealed properly. Another area where water may penetrate is through the cowling area under the wiper blades/arm where fresh air enters the car. There are water drains under this cowling allowing water to drain and if they are plugged with leaves/debris, water will enter the vehicle. Is the vehicle rusted around the windshield area? If so, suspect this to be the source of water intrusion. Most glass/windshield repair companies will diagnose water intrusion problems

Approximately how much would it cost to get a new paint job? My paint is peeling.

Depends where you go.

Generally $1500 - 2000, but shop around, as prices vary a lot.
You can call dealerships, name brand national paint shops like MAACO, or little independent autobody shops.

I've got a stratus myself, and the qoutes I've gotten in my area have been in this area. You've just gotta make the phone calls and see what prices you get in your area.

A word of advice though, do not have anyone paint your car before you see some other work they've done, or you hear from other people that they do superb work. Do not just have them do the job based on lowest price or you will regret it.

1988 jayco motorhome class c with water damage on the rear roof area ...trying to repair it &the drivers side ..sidewall ...put new screw covers on side rails & awning rails but not on the roof...

Hi, you can use 6 or 12 inch uncured epdm rubber roofing flashing. it comes in a roll with a protective cover you peel. first clean the area with putty knife, wire brush, orbital sander etc.. use laquer thinner on a rag to with protective gloves and eyewear clean the area well. the uncured is then cut to fit, apply splice adheasive (Lowes) specificly for this job with a 3 inch roller to the area, then apply same to uncured strip. let dry to semi tacky test with finger tips if it doesn't smear its ready. hold strip up and over the area and carefully set it in place. use hand pressure to finish . finally use special lap caulking (lowes) applied to all edges of patch. your done and leak is gone. This uncured rubber is great...it goes over humps, around corners, and once it cures it doesn't come up. ive been in the roofing industry for 35 years and I also am a fellow RVer. and I used this method of repair all the time. this stuff comes in white or black. and can be found at any commercial roofing supply warehouse. good luck

Need Painting Advice for Compound Troubled Areas

I don't think you can hurt it by sealing it from the outside. Your issue is the inside of the frame. The pillar is not airtight. Most of what you can use will smell for years if you spray WD 40 inside to displace moisture.
You might consider taking it to All-American car franchises or equivalent. They drill and plug body areas routinely to spray inside door panels, tailgates, etc. It would inhibite rust and unless you actually replace the metal when you want to paint the car, theres not much else you can hope to do. I live in the Michigan rustbelt area.

Hi,i recently used a DUPLI-COLOR CLEARCOAT TOUCH UP PAINT on 2 small areas where the clearcoat had peeled off when i replaced an emblem on my 1995 Deville. It is a bit noticeable when light shines at a certain angle--but more importantly, IT STOPS THE CLEARCOAT FROM PEELING OFF ANYMORE.
