I want to change the leads on the spark plugs for a 3.9 v8 land rover discovery 1994.

when i took an old lead off, it left an attchment to the end of the spark plug. i unscrewed this out and tried to attach a new lead on. however, i felt that the lead wasnt attached properly to the spark plug. Is the new lead just suppose to attach to the spark plug easily? thanks

The part that you unscrewed from the spark plug is what allows the plug cap to snap onto the plug. Screw the little adaptor back onto the spark plug - and the plug cap should then snap into place with a little pressure.

There is a single High Tension Lead that goes from the spark plug cap to the coil pack.

Or do you mean firing order from coil pack to plugs? Which wire goes from what cylinder to which coil?

98 land rover turns over but wont start

Get a used spark plug and hook it to a sparkplug wire and have someone crank it over and ground the plug and see if it sparks if it don't you have a problem with the computer or electronic ignition. Or it could be that it jumped timing.

1995 Land Rover Discovery 3.9L V8 Not Starting

Check the distributor position when the engine is turned to TDC , the rotor should be facing close to no. 1 spark plug lead.Try spray some quick start spray in the inlet and see if it takes , if so then your fuel return is dumping too much fuel. The older pressure regulators were adjustable by a small screw next to the diaphragm.

1984 land rover v8 109 will turn over but not fire

check you have a spark at your ht leads, i.e, turn the engine over holding a lead to the engine, if you can see the spark, then your spark plugs need cleaning/changing, if not check your distributor brush as sometimes the carbon brush wears on v8 land rovers.

Fuel supply problem in 1998 Landrover Discovery. 3.9 V8

not likely a fuel issue,
try running it in the dark of night , no lighting and look for sparks ,
have the ignition coil tested , be sure it has good ground.
pull each plug and watch the spark ,does it maintain the blue long arc.
tune a am/fm radio to the sparks ignition sound an listen to it
a portable walkman can lead you to the faulty spark,
or just have them monitor the spark at the shop.
