What would be causing a noise in the front end that sounds like someone hitting can when braking & going over bumps?

Sounds like the wheel is touching something when the nose goes down a bit. I had a similar problem and found it was the stone guard under the front fender

Knocking Noise from Front End Toyota Corolla 2004

Ensure the wheel nuts and Axle nuts are properly torqued to the specification. Lift up the front wheels, place supports under the car and do the following:
- Sit if front of right wheel, slightly move it right and left and feel any abnormal noise if coming out of it. If click-click or Tuck-Tuck sound is observed it could be due to the excessive play in the tie rod end, rack end, ball joint wheel bearing or U joint. Next hold the Tire with your one hand at the top and with other hand at the bottom. Shake the Tire inside out and feel any noise or play. If play is observed, it could be the worn out ball joint or the wheel bearing. Now hit the Tire at the top with rubber hammer and observe any rattling noise coming from near the center of the wheel. If you could listen to the extra noise it could be due to the dried up caliper pins. Grease the pins with graphite grease. If all is found fine, similarly check the left wheel and repair as necessary.

2004 pontiac grand am gt front wheels shakes when i go pass 70 mph.there,s a bumping noise under front end when you hit a slight bump in road.

I would check the front struts. They could be worn out (you didn't give mileage), or simply loose. I would recommend you either check them or have them checked as it could be minor or it could cause damage beyond the problem. One way to have them checked is to take it to someone that does front end alignments. No reputable shop would align a car with defective parts as the alignment wouldn't last. Sorry I couldn't help more, but a test drive would be required.

Front end noise

A suspension part is worn out - lift the front of the car and check the bushings (most likely), the pivots and the ball bearings.

Squeaky mattress like noise in the front end of a

MOST LIKELY THE FRONT AND REAR SWAY BAR RUBBER BUSHINGS ARE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM, ALSO THE FRONT LOWER STRUTS CAN BE NOISY AS WELL.

Clunk noise from front left suspension

My guess is a strut bushing/bearing, but have your front end checked out by good shop to make sure it isn't something else more dangerous.
