It could be a plain old fashioned leak around the windscreen - difficult to find but try sitting in the car while somebody plays a water hose over the windscreen.

It could also be a blocked drain in the ventilation system - fresh air is normally drawn in to a car via vents at the bottom of the windscreen. These vents normally lead to a "box" like structure where any water that enters the vents drops to the bottom and then drains away via a short hose that runs to somewhere underneath the car.
If the drain outlet or hose gets blocked (by leaves for example), it can cause the box to fill with water to the point where it can leak out in to the passenger area.

Hope this helps you find the problem.

I just finished repairing the same leak on my friends 96 Taurus. If you remove the passenger side plastic panel just below the windshied, you will see the box structure that holds the cabin air filter. There is a plastic cover over this which is held on by 2 screws. This cover has a piece that goes down the left side of the filter box. It is integral to the cover. On our vehicle, this piece had broken off and we found it sitting between the box and the fender. When we got it out we could see that it was very thin, and had just broken at the right angle joint. Joined the two pieces up with some special glue, and then when the glue was set we put silicone on the outside and the inside of the joint. Then refitted it. Most of the time is taken up waiting for the glue to dry. I notice many similar complaints for other model Ford vehicles. I am wondering if they used the same setup for all the models. I hope this helps somebody.

A puddle appears on the front passenger side floor when it rains and car has been parked not used. Nothing else appears wet except the floor.

GM cars used to be notorious for leaking rain water in around the edge of the front windshield. There is also a rainwater drainage system on the front, generally where the wipers are located and the drain hole on the bottom of that can become clogged.

The AC evaporator units have a drain hose that runs through the floor because condensed moisture is a fact of life with AC units. Yours is plugged. You will have to get under the vehicle and look for the hose where it comes out, then take like coat hanger wire and clean it out, It is somewhere in the vicinity of where the passenger foot well meets the fire wall. If you have to raise the vehicle to get under it, make certain you have it safely supported. If you don't have the stuff, drive the passenger side wheels up on a good curb and use some cardboard to slide under.

Water leak on fwd and back passenger side after every rain storm

pull your carpet up near the leak area and look for muddy body seams. it is possible one of the factory body seams are leaking- possibly in the cowl(under wipers) area, especially if it leaks when the car is sitting. there will be dirt/mud around the seams that are leaking. also you can check door seals by running the car on HIGH DEFROST with all doors and windows closed. spray around with a 50/50 soapy water solution. obviously bubbles will form around your leak.
