Procedure for 2002 Land Rover models:
1. With the doors shut and from inside the vehicle.
2. Turn ignition to position 1 and back to off within 5 seconds
3. Remove key from ignition and press and hold the unlock button (has
an arrow on it) for 15 seconds during this time press the key lock button
(has Land Rover logo)3 times within 5 seconds
4. Release both buttons
5. Doors will lock and unlock to show correct programming has occurred

- Sit in the car with all the doors shut and windows up with your key fobs (all your fobs need to be done at the same time) - With one of your keys turn the ignition on then off and remove the key - Press and hold the unlock botton and then press the lock button 3 times. - Release all buttons and the locks will bounce up and down. - Repeat this with the other key/keys (press and hold unlock and press lock 3 times, locks will bounce)
Note: Only switch your ignition on once, doing so again while programming will reset the process and you will have to start again.
There is a special procedure involved in keying your fob to your car once the battery has been changed. You must lock and open the door with your key. Turn the ignition to "on"(not start) then push the fob's open and close button, then shut off ignition. This procedure is done everything the key battery is changed. If the passkey is messed up, there will be a light on the dash that says security, or have a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If there is no light when the key is turned forward, then its NOT a passkey problem.
The security systems pass lock is disabling the vehicle. This usually happens when the ignition switch does not recognize the ignition key and/or a defective fob or the battery in the fob needs to be replaced. If you ignition key is too worn. This could possibly be your problem
get in the car and shut the doors.
you will need to be quick with the next procedure.
turn on ignition and press unlock
turn off ignition
keep doing this until you hear the door locks work
then press the lock button to save the code
(if you have another fob you will also need to press lock on this as well)
Had same trouble with my 406, fixing no problem, with new battery in fob, insert into ignition, turn key, BUT DO NOT START ENGINE, hold button for about 10 seconds release button and remove key from ignition, then try and see if doors lock on remote, if not try again, had to do this a couple of times, and it worked, sorry to say that now my key fob button has completely fell apart, through ware and tare
Instructions to program a keyless entry remote for a Chevy Silverado. They also work on 2003, 2004 and 2006 Suburbans.
Close all the vehicle doors.
Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
Press and hold the DOOR unlock switch.
While holding the DOOR lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
Release the DOOR unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one keyless remote. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters.
Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (one more click forward) position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode.
Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation
