Dear Rockin Alternator........The alternator having an occasional noise? Like either a bearing growl or brush whine? It's very feasibly for this kinda noise to come and'll start doin it more often when it decides to fail completely on you....don't wait till then. What happens is there's a sealed bearing on these alternators that never gets serviced....obviously...and when the little bit of road **** or water falls victim to being sucked in every now and then that causes bearing failure over time. It doesn't really take a whole lot at all...also be sure to check your belt and tensioner when ya replace this alternator......unless you feel like doin twice the amount of work...... I HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

I had the serpentine belt replaced on my 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager about two months ago. Everything was going fine with it, no problems or anything, until like a week and a half to two weeks ago, when I...

Check the alternator pulley for a wobble when the engine is running. WIth the belt off pull up and
down on the pulley, check for up and down movement. If the belt popped off, you have some movement on one of the pulleys, a bad belt tensioner, or just the wrong belt. So check the belt tensioner as well. And find the part number on the new belt and check online to see if its the correct belt. But Im fairly certain its the alternator.

I think you have a bad bearing on your alternator. The bearing can become loose and reseat itself for a while, then loose again. Could explain the battery light randomly coming on.

Have the alternator bench tested at the auto parts store as well.

I have a ford Escape 05 and it seems to be running rough I just got the alternator changed including new spark plugs but I find there is a loud grinding noise and idles rough when under load. I've noticed...

I'am only going to quess here.
The spark plugs have no bearing on anything.
The alternator is usually a remanufactured item. That said, you don't always get new bearings in the case. I wouldn't suspect they are the noise, you hear though.
IF, you didn't have these issues before the alternator switch, You, know where the current problem is.
Meaning, either the new alternator has the wrong pulley on it,and the belt is not tracking correctly, thus putting pressure on the sides of the tension and idler pulleys. Now you have a real mess, noise and belt about to chew it's self apart.
Second,if I'am wrong, remember,I am quessing, then you have other problems, not properly addressed, for some reason, when they relieved you of some money for the alternator isses.

Hi, our 2003 focus wont start. The engine light, the ignition light and the oil light are all on. We have checked the battery and all the fuses but nothing there seems wrong. We've only had this car for...

could be the belt tensioner is bad. That will loosen the belt so the car battery goes weak and will make a bad noise. Could have gotten a defective alternator.

Load noise coming from engine occasionally when not touching gas mostly when heat is on, then if you tap the gas it stops.

You should get the alternator checked to see if the rear bearing needs replacement, they go from annoying to trashing the whole alternator and belt in a very short time.

Occasionally Battery light goes on momentarily

could be a defective alternator, but the mechanic will need to check it while the light is on. I know that sound like BS but if he checks it while the light is off, of course its going to check good.

Battery Light On While Driving-Mazda 2003

It does sound like the alternator, plus it's possible the squeaking could be coming from that or possibly the serpentine belt. If you take the alternator to Autozone, whether it's on the car or seperate, they can test it for you for free. If this helps please rate this. Thanks

Air pump noise

air pump noise is common and in most cases it will last a very long time after it gets noisy. U can't buy parts for the air pump for this car, it is either a usd one or a rebuilt one, try A1Cardone, I am sure if they have your pump it is far less than $1000.00
