Where they all are on Toyotas - on the trans, mounted under the selector arm (the one that moves when you change gears.)

can you show me a pictdur of where it is on my 1987 toyota camry

If you can't find it with the description, a picture won't help you. stand over the driver's side of the engine compartment and look down while someone moves the shifter, so you can see the part that is moving on the transmission. That part has a switch located where it enters the transmission, and this is what you are looking for.

It has a connector with a large number of wires, six to twenty depending on vehicle specifics.

I have a 98 toyota tacoma sr5 4 cylinder..i have replaced the battery, starter and now the ignition switch..still have problem starting..i already spent $340 on parts

You are using the "shotgun" method of diagnosis-shooting parts at it until it's fixed.I refused to do this as a dealer tech, which is why I don't fix cars for a living any more.(In the auto dealer warranty repair world, you are paid for replacing parts, not for diagnosis time.) However, since you have replaced the most expensive pieces already, why not round it up with a neutral safety switch(or clutch pedal switch-you didn't specify an auto or manual trans)? I had many automatic trans vehicles that would not start in park, but would in neutral. Some "PRNDL" switches are adjustable, not sure about yours. If you do have an auto trans, try cranking the starter while pushing/pulling the shifter. If this makes the trouble come and go,you are probably on the right track.

Where is the back up light switch on a 2000 Toyota Camry?

The 4 cyl manual trans uses a small switch in the side of the trans.
The backup circuit for the automatic is in the neutral safety switch on the shift rod on the side of the trans.

Back up lights won't work. How do I determine if

Hi. Remove the reverse lamp bulb. With a 12 volt test light, check for voltage at the wire that is NOT white with a black tracer.

If you have voltage, the neutral switch is good. The White/black wire is the ground.

Can't find the backup light switch on 4 cylinder 1999 Toyota Camry with automatic transmission. Can anybody tell me where it is?

its part of the neutral safety switch on the transmission it goes over the trans input shift shaft on the front of trans facing the radiator. new one must be adjusted by the neutral if you change, theres a line and a N on new switch put trans in N and align lines then tighten 2 bolts to lock down. good luck

Will not start due to electrical problem. Thje battry is good. Was able to bypass the starter and it ran.

Main possibilities are the ignition switch itself, or the auto trans neutral safety switch, or a stick trans clutch safety switch.
