Question about 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

1 Answer

I have a wire group going to the cruise control on a 72 cutlass with a rocket 350. There are 4 wires going to 2 clips. One is attached to the diaphragm attached to the motor. Any idea where the other clip is supposed to go?

It sounds like the bearing is going out and when you connect it and disconnect it this places more stress when it is on thus cause it to scream .It still can work even tho it it screams but one day it will go out and you can get stuck broke down.FIX; I would take it to a qualified shop and have them replace it or you can replace it yourself just be careful to note where the wires go.Thank you for your questions

Speedometer, odometer, and cruise quit working

clean the 2 wire connector on the speed sensor on top of trans, driver side, rear of trans.

VSS is hard to remove in rust climates so hope it's the connector.

go here too

could be speedo gear attached to VSS.

Cruise control not working on a 2008 ford F-350

check the fuse, it might be blown....Also, check the master brake cylinder. There's a sensor for the cruise control to activate and deactivate. Make sure it's ok. This is found on your master cylinder (wheel brakes area)

97' Ford 350 diesel the cruise control quit

There is a brake light switch that ,disconnects the cruise control, when braking, this maybe the problem, even if the brake lights work fine, the switch still could cause this problem, replace the brake light switch.

No break lights

this sounds like your brake light switch has failed. it should be located under the driver side dash attached to either the brake pedal arm or the bracket that the brake pedal arm stops at when the brake pedal is up. they are usually attached by a nut that unscrews and a 2 wire harness connector. if you have cruise control there may be 3 or 4 wires at the connector. some may have a couple of screws that it hold it to the bracket. when you replace the switch and it has the nut that screws on the switch, adjust it in or out so your brake lights go off when you release the brake pedal or your brake light may not turn off.

I need to know where all the wires go on an alternator on a 1979 350 rocket on an oldsmobile cutlass supreme

You should have a heavy #10 red wire with an eyelet that will fasten to the stud on the back. You should also have 2 smaller wires ,14-16 guage, in a plug-in that slides into a slot on the top rear of the alternator. They are probably brown and red or orange. If for some reason, the plug is not there then the brown wire goes to the #1 or left hand tang, looking from the back. The red or orange goes to the #2 or right side. Make sure you use an insulated connector if you have to do this because voltage will arc between the 2 and short out your alternator. Hope this helps.

Speedometer and odometer stoped working

this is a tough repair since the VSS, vehcile speed sensor is usually corroded to the transmission. It is on the top rear of trans, has one 10mm bolt and a 2 wire connector. The plastic gear on the end of the VSS wears out. Or the signal stops.

The cruise control quits too.

go here for help. see files and photos.

The cruise control off and on switch

the cruise control switch comes out of the steering wheel. you can use a small flat head screw driver to unwedge it from is hole in the steering wheel. there will be a wire attached to the back, lift the clip holding it the wire to the switch. installation is the reverse.

My cruise control just quit on my 97 olds. how do

First check the fuse in the fuse box. It also sounds like you may have a wire in the column that is shorting out. you may have to replace the turn lever.
