Question about 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII

I have a 1998 Lincoln Mark 8. For a few months

I have a 1998 Lincoln Mark 8. For a few months now the front air shocks have not been pumping up...the light in the dash has also been coming on. I found out about the switch located in the trunk, and so I turned it off and then back on. After doing that, the front air shocks worked. The light on the dash board never came on either. I drove it around this afternoon and didn't have a problem. Tonight, after the car sat for about 6 hours at work, I turned the car on and the air shocks would not pump up and the light on the dash board came back on. Is there some kind of electrical problem that could be causing this? Or is it something else?

You have a air leak in the system. could be just a O-ring or maybe a hole in one of the air bags.

Clicking noise on drivers side of the dash after the car has run and key turned off.

That car has an air compressor which pumps up the air shocks. the shocks may be shot. The hoses to the shocks may have a leak or the compressor its self may be the problem. My car all three were bad so I had air shocks installed that you pump up manually with a compressor or you can use an air pump at a gas station. Just a little thing below the license plate to put in the air. Only half the price and I pump them up every three months.

My 1998 lincoln mark 8 rear is too high, wont come back down. why is the rear too high?

There should be a level switch in the rear of the car.The connector may have come unplugged,or filled with water.or maybe the switcch is bad.Or,it could be as simple as a disonnected or broken link arm at the switch.

I have a 1993 lincoln mark viii trying to manually add air to rear air bags i have installed the hose kit but they wont accept air how to fix

Don't bother. Check with srtutmasters or other alternatives. If the car was made in 93, all bags will be leaking and eventually the compressor cant keep up and fails. even your local lincoln dealer will not be able to diagnose the problems with their "computers." You can get lifetime struts and spring, in your case just springs for the rear, lincoln shocks still work. Put new struts and springs in the front. The only difference is the car will not lower itself at 60 mph or higher. the ride is the same.

Is there a way to check if air shocks are operating correctley before I purchase mark 8

you mean air suspension. yes, there is a switch in the trunk i think on left side. turn it off , then open hood and on the air pump for suspension there is a regular air valve like on tires. Release the air from system, car will lower down.. then turn switch in trunk back on and start engine so the pump wont kill battery , and watch the car rise again to normal height.

Its a air suspension comprssor for a 93 lincoln mark 8 were on the car is it located

The air suspension compressor is located on the passenger side of the car in front of the tire. To get to it, you must first lift the front tires off of the ground, remove the front passenger tire, and then remove the plastic skirt found behind the tire. After this is done it is easy to see the compressor which is found towards the front of the car, mounted just behind the skirt. I hope this helps
