if you sqirt a little gas or starting fluid in tthe air intake and it starts for a few seconds then the igjition is probably ok since it was stored so long you could have lots of water int the gas tank or bad gas... you could have a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump . you can have a pressure/volume test done on the fuel pump.. that will also test the fuse and fuel filter .. wow only 54k miles ..

MY 1994 Ciera 3.1 v-6 with approx. 58,000 on a rebuilt engine has been stalling out more often then not when I slow down to yeild or stop. Most times it will turn right over but sometimes it takes a couple...

by what you are telling me it sounds like you have a very large vaccum leak, the 3.1 engines where known for leaking intakes. what i would do is get a sqirt bottle with water in it start the car and squirt all around the intake if the car starts to run even worse then you have found the problem. that is where i would start.

Rpm is at 3400 why want it idle down at start. this is on a 2002 pontiac grandam?

idle air control motor may be stuck wide open or intake manifold air leaks (gaskets). the idle air control motor is on the side of the throttle body.

I had the same problem in my 2002 grand am GT. After taking it to a transmission shop and them telling me that I had all this stuff wrong with it that was going to cost me about 2700$ I looked elsewhere. I had an Intake Temperature Sensor that had went bad. It was registering on the check engine light after the fact. I changed it and then found out there was a loose wire in the connector. I fixed that and havent had a problem with it since

That is an intake backfire, meaning you have the valve timing wrong. Not quite sure right now on what it should be but check timing belt position and valve timing gear positions.
