Hi, I tried to used the metal Toyota key instead of the Dodge FOB to start my Dodge Caravan. Now when I try to use the FOB instead the display reads "badkey". What can I do?

Go to the dealership and have them reprogram it, your fob has a chip in it that needs to be read when the car is started and by using the metal key it probably through an alarm in the ignition.

Remote works for everything but vehicle will not start

Does it try to crank, or is there no response when you turn the key?

If it tries to crank but can't turn over it is probably the battery, and might be the starter. If it is close to cranking, make sure the headlights and air conditioning are off when you try to start it. If the battery is dead you can get a jump or take it to an auto parts store to have it charged, most will do it free (autozone for one). If the car still won't start after getting a jump or a new battery, it is likely the starter.

If there is no response at all when you turn the key, I'm not sure. Check the fuses. Maybe the fuse or relay going to the starter is blown. Maybe there is some advanced security feature like an RFID key that has failed.

My vehicle stopped running and had to have towed. Put in new battery now wont start. Windows have now stopped working as has the radio. Tried to turn key today to roll up windows and key don't work.

Start from scratch...remove post battery posts...inspect...clean...reconnect...as you connect the positive (red) side post you should see a small spark...If not, this battery may be defective...check charge level...the Equinox battery is under a cover, and all connections need to be inspected...Hope this helps. Going back to the first symptom...your car stopped running? This could be the alternator that is defective, and your car will die as the battery runs down...

My 2000 passat is in anti theft mode and won't start

Make sure that the battery is in a fully charged condition and reconnect, Positive post first and then the negative (This helps to avoid accidental short circuiting) Close all doors, bonnet/hood boot windows etc. Lock the vehicle with the key. Leave vehicle for at least 10 minutes without disturbing it. Unlock vehicle and start the engine. I have had to use this method on various makes of vehicle. It allows the system to reset. PLEASE NOTE the battery must be fully charged.

Car was parked for a few weeks and when i went to start it it had no power.. Tried jumpstarting while hooked up to another vehicle with no response.. no lights coming on when i turn key to acc

Remove the battery wires and look for a whiteish deposit on both wire terminals and battery posts, if it's there clean this off thoroughly with a wire brush. Check battery voltage with a voltmeter if possible, should be around 12.5 if the battery is charged. The car will still start if the voltage is slightly lower (11 volts). Also check fuse 5 40 amp (IGN-SW BATT 1), this is located in the fuse block under the hood. Also check the red wire going from the battery to the fuse block as this powers everything. Hope this helps.

When I put my key in the ignition of my 2008 dodge grand caravan, it reads badkey & wont start. what is the problem?

Newer Dodge Vehicles do not have an ignition for a "metal" key. They use the Electronic Key called a FOB with a built in or integrated metal key that is only used to unlock the door. The FOB inserts into a WIN module (Wireless Ignition Module) instead of the normal igition. Reprogramming the vehicle usually does the trick however there has been significant problems with the WIN module and the dealer may have to replace it. The 2010's have a recall on some models. The manual states the keys cannot be reprogrammed. The first and easiest solution might be to try replacing the battery in the FOB (aka key),

Hello
Trace the battery cables back sounds like something is loose like the ground to the engine or the power cable to the power distribution box
