Check the Solenoid Switch. Located next to the battery on the inner fender wall. Short it across the two tall posts and see if engine cranks. If so, replace.

94 ford tempo wont start. is my silenoid stuck or do i need a new starter. It does click when i try to start it.

clean the battery terminals if it is multiple clicks when you turn the key. otherwise try tapping the starter and have someone start it at the same time. that will tell you if it is the starter.

My 1993 Ford Tempo (automobile) will not start when I turn the key. A clicking sound comes from the driver's side of the engine compartment. The pre-start charge begins, but then nothing.

Sounds like a battery problem. Get a jump and if the vehicle starts replace your battery. If the vehicle won't start using a jump have the starter solenoid checked.

Sorry But What you Discribe IS an Indicater that the Starter IS FAILING, You Must Find out if the POWER IS Coming OUT the STARTER SIDE Of the SOLINOID With a TEST LIGHT, If it IS the STARTER is BAD___ SMACK Starter With A Hammer (Unconventional YEA) But Effective in Diagnosing Starter Problem. Also Be SURE of TIGHT MOUNT of Starter As GROUNDING Can ALSO Cause your Symptom

'92 Ford Tempo won't start.

Check the battery cables for bad connections, both at the battery, and where the ground cable connects to the engine and chassis. I believe the solenoid is remote mounted from the starter, so check the cable between the solenoid and the starter as well..

1993 Ford Tempo won't start

I know this sounds stupid, tap the fender soliniod with a small hammer when someone is trying to crank the engine, it will start. The clicking is a jam in the solinoid, one tap and it should release. I told a few people this on here and they didn't beleive me, but all have sent me mails thanking me. Good luck bud,
Regards, Dave, Let me know

1994 ford tempo will not start only clicks

Hook your voltage tester to the battery, then have a helper try to start the car. Watch the voltage when you hear the click. If it drops much under 12v then odds are the battery is no good. Have it load tested at your local autoparts store
