Make sure you have the correct bulb and have it installed in the socket correctly.

My 1991 bmw 535i right frontpark light has fire coming throughht the socket

I pulled the bulb on a Chevy and Volt meter had voltage. New bulb did not work I started moving it around in the socket and it did light up. If it happens you need new socket. If bulb never lights up and socket has 12V, I would make sure the bulb lights up in another socket .before changing socket.

I have a 05 chevy equinox and the left brake light wont work...I changed the bulb and the light works but when i push on the brake it wont light up...any ideas of what it might be...

If you're sure the bulb is good, your next step would be to get a volt meter and test the bulb socket. You most likely have either corrosion in the socket or possibly a bad wire or ground.

2011 ford feista se brake light out on drivers side. Running light and blinker work. Have replaced bulb and socket with same results what do I do now?

Did you try the passenger side brake bulb in the driver side socket (maybe the new lamp is bad)??

If it works, then the problem is either a bad ground connection / wire at / between chassis and the shell of brake lamp socket, or bad 12 volt wire at / between the common passenger 12 volt brake light wire in the harness to the center contact on the brake lamp socket.

My suggestion is if the brake lamp wire is ONLY for brakes - not the directional too, simply add a new wire spliced into the passenger side brake light wire and extend it to the brake light wire closest to the new socket that you recently installed on the driver side. Disconnect the vehicle brake wire from the new socket and wire nut it off or tape it up (so it can't short out if it somehow becomes energized again) and splice this new wire to the new socket.

Test & you're done!

Rearlight in pasenger side stop to light,I put new light bulbs, still no lighting

Remove the bulb & check the socket to be sure is is not corroded. Check for a good ground level on the ground wire of the affected socket either with ohm meter (with lamps off) or voltmeter (with lamps on). Splice as needed to complete ground path to socket. Make a resistance check on the bulb. Make sure if does not read "open" or "infinity" as a blown bulb. Have someone step on the brake pedal while you check for 12V on the stop circuit at the stop socket. Follow the wire back to where 12V is detected ans splice as needed to supply 12 to socket.

Horn doesn't work, revrese lights won't come on, and 2 of the 3 break lights won't come on on 1995 Geo Tracker. Fuses are good and bulbs are good.

for how long, 1 day, 1 year , 1 decade? is it a daily driver
or a barn stored, winter car.?

the real question,is there 12v exiting the fuse, the acid test. that.
any volt meter does that in 5min flat.
3rd brake light is bad bulb or corroded socket.
what tranny< 3,4,5,sp.? but in each case it takes a good rev.
switch, if 12v enters said switch and does not exit, its bad.
0v bad,6v rev. path shorted to ground,12v good.
btw, all clamps can short, try 1 new one. in each path all by lonesome. dig?
bulbs good means what.
1: look good.
2: glow when placed on a 12v battery
3:measure 0 ohms with meter (means good or shorted.
4: or they are new and assumed good, (p/n ? what is the p/n?)
head lamps good.? parking lamps, blinker, are all other lamps working. does car start?

3rd. brake light in the rear bumper will not work even with a new bulb, why? 1991 Corvette convertible

either wire to the light, or the wire to the brake switch above pedal is bad or loose.

Tail lamps, turn signals work, running lights work-no brake light

check the socket for 12v if there is 12 volts then your terminals inside the socket are not making contact with the bulb terminal replace the socket

91 corvette backup light do not work also 3rd brake light ,bulb&fuses are ok.

I had the same problem with a 91 mazda 626. turned out that the wires that ran from the lights along the trunk and back into the harness were broken from opening/closing the trunk. i would check around that area first.
