This can be an issue at times, especially with a higher mileage engine with built up engine varnish.
Some carburetor spray cleaner and then some light oil should loosen it.
Also seen some burrs happen in the area of the dowel pin make it a little tighter.
A little bit of heat from a propane torch on the gear could help to expand the gear and loosen it up.

How to change distributor module senser on 94 f150

You must remove the distributor (mark the direction that the rotor points and the distributor location to block) from the engine and then mark the shaft and gear alignment and then punch out the roll pin that holds the drive gear on, remove the distributor shaft and then the distributor pickup/stator (two 7mm machine screws). Reinstall the distributor as close as possible to original direction that the rotor pointed to and the same as it was in the block you previously marked..

How to remove distributor on 1984 monte carlo 305 v8

bring engine to top dead center #1 with the timing marks. remove distributer cap and note position of rotor direction and mark on the distributor housing were the rotor is pointing. also mark the position of the distributor mark to a position on the motor, then unbolt the distributor holding bolt and remove. pull up on the distributor and note which way the rotor moves as you pull the distributor out. again mark where the rotor is pointing when the distributor is out. the reason for the marking of rotor position and distributor position is so when you reassemble you line up the marks to get it into the proper position when the distributor is back in place. then you have to check the timing and set. as far as the pickup coil remove the distributor gear lock pin remove the gear and remove the distributor shaft to replace the coil. reassemble in reverse order.

How to put in a pip sensor in a distributor?

I'm assuming you have the V6 engine since the V8 does not have a distributor. And I am assuming you mean the pickup/stator in the distributor.
Normally you remove the gear and pull the shaft out of the housing.

How to remove the pick-up coil of a 1989 GM 350

Not sure about yours, but on a lot of them you have to partially dissemble the distributor. Not that hard, just drive out the roll pin on the bottom gear with a punch, and slide off the gear. Now dist. shaft can be pulled out from the top. That's about it. Remove and replace pick-up coil.
Good luck.

I want to know how to remove the pick up coil from my 1991 caprice distributor in a 305 engine

Hi, In order to remove the pick up coil, the distributor must be removed, once out, take the roll pin out of the gear, and the shaft of the distributor will slide out. Once the shaft is out, the pick up coil can easily be removed , or replaced. Before you remove the distributor, you should put the engine on #1 TDC to keep time.
Good luck...Coop

Whats the easiest way to replace pick up sensor inside of distributor , think thats ? what its called ? so far ive replaced fuel pump, fuel filter , ignition module, and still same problem when engine gets...

have done 1000's, u must remove the distributor and drive out the roll pin that holds the distributor drive gear on and then remove the distributor shaft to change the stator, or pickup as u call it, remember to mark the direction the rotor was pointed and the base of the distributor as well, if u do this u often never even have to reset the igntion timing.

Engine turns over but no spark at the plugs. checked coil ok changed ignition moudle no luck changed rotor no luck. checked voltage from coil to cap getting 12vdc. checked voltage going to and coming out...

You can change pick-up coil, you need to remove distributor (mark where rotor is pointing first) Then you need to remove pin in cam gear on end of shaft to remove gear so you can remove shaft from housing. Then you can replace pick-up coil. Install in reverse. Note when removing distributor rotor will move to the right as you lift distributor out, move rotor to right of mark you made when installing distributor back in.

The Rpm indictor is stuck on 0. after a while the check engine light comes on. I went to NAPA and they put it on the machine and sold me a pick up module. How do I install it? where is it located?

Both of these parts sit in the distributor.
4.3L engine

1 - ignition control module NAPA part # TP58
remove dist. cap unscrew two small screw remove module and replace, that the easy one.

2 - Distributor pick-up assembly NAPA part # MP143
remove distributor cap, mark dist.rotor so that it goes back on the same place it came out, remove bolt at base of dist., pull distributor out, at base of distributor shaft is a gear, remove roll pin from gear, remove gear slide shaft out through the top of distributor, unscrew pick-up and replace. Reinstall every thing back and your done. Set ignition timing.
