Question about 2001 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab

1 Answer

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder 4w. The OBD system-readiness status: Says catalytic converters, NOT READY; oxygen sensors, NOT READY; evaporative system, NOT READY. So did not pass inspection, I was told to drive in about 100 miles, to get them ready but that did not help. Pls help, what can I do to solve these problems.

You have to re-set the obd via using Nissan's approved drive-cycle which is;

1. Start the engine when the engine coolant

temperature gauge needle points to C. Allow

the engine to idle until the gauge needle

points between the C and H (normal operating

temperature).

2. Accelerate the vehicle to 55 MPH (88

km/h), then quickly release the accelerator

pedal completely and keep it released for at

least 6 seconds.

3. Quickly depress the accelerator pedal for a

moment, then drive the vehicle at a speed

of 53 to 60 MPH (86 to 96 km/h) for at least

5 minutes.

4. Stop the vehicle.

5. Accelerate the vehicle to 35 MPH (55 km/h)

and maintain the speed for 20 seconds.

6. Repeat steps 4 through 5 at least 3 times.

7. Accelerate the vehicle to 55 MPH (88 km/h)

and maintain the speed for at least 3 minutes.

8. Stop the vehicle and turn the engine off.

9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 at least one more

time.

If step 1 through 7 is interrupted, repeat the

preceding step. Any safe driving mode is acceptable

between steps. Do not stop the engine

until step 7 is completed. If you cannot or

do not want to perform the driving pattern, a
NISSAN dealer can conduct it for you.

2002 Chevy replaced Egr valve and oxygen sensor 2says not ready for Egr and evap

Replacing parts on the chance of solving the problem can get expensive. Take it to someone who has a scanner tool to check the sensors. Sound like you have a sensor not working.

What is the drive cycle for a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?

What is not ready?

One of the 8 Emission Monitors?

Drive cycles have to be looked up in factory manuals
& done by a repair shop, NOT the vehicle owner

Seldom do you need to do a drive cycle

If a drive cycle is done for a reason, there is no driving a vehicle
hundreds of miles, as you hear about

I would guess you have an Emissions Failure

Exhaust Converter
Oxygen Sensors
Cylinder Misfires
Egr Issue
Evap System

What ever codes you have, will tell you the system to component test

Need scan tool to look at data, thus a repair shop

Toyota t100 obd not ready

The problem is not the parts but the communication between the parts and the computer. I would have the computer reflash and then drive the vehicle for a extended amount of time. This should fix the problem.

My 2003 Olds Aurora won't come to ready (evaporative system and O2 sensor indicated on OBDII.

monitoring to detect ignition and fuel related misfires that may cause emissions to increase and/or damage to the catalytic converter.

Fuel System Monitoring to detect changes in fuel mixture that may cause emissions to increase.

Comprehensive Component Monitoring to detect any major faults in engine sensors that may cause emissions to increase.
The OBD monitors that only run under certain conditions include the EVAP monitor, HEGO monitor (Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen sensor), and the Catalyst Efficiency monitor.

2001 Nissan Sentra. Car starts with no power, but after a few restarts, gain power again. Code is PO420.

Hi, P0420 code means a catalytic converter fault.
The catalytic converter has an oxygen sensor in front and behind it. When the vehicle is warm and running in closed loop mode, the upstream oxygen sensor waveform reading should fluctuate. The downstream O2 sensor reading should be fairly steady. Typically the P0420 code triggers the Check Engine Light if the readings of the two sensors are similar. This is indicative of (among other things) a converter that is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to specs). It is part of the vehicle emissions system.
  • Check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, pipes, catalytic converter. Repair as required.
  • Use a scope to diagnose the oxygen sensor operation (Tip: The oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter normally has a fluctuating waveform. The waveform of the sensor behind the converter should be more steady).
  • Inspect the downstream heated oxygen sensor (HO2), replace if necessary
  • Replace the catalytic converter
