SOURCE: Replaced timing belt but now the car wont start

timing these new motors today are difficult, your timing may still be off. You'll need to get a timing gun. Also did you make sure that the motor was Top Dead Center(TDC).

SOURCE: I have changed the timing belt on a 99 Dodge Stratus with a 2.4 liter engine. All timing marks are aligned properly according to Haynes diagram and the engine will still not start. It tries to start

INFO:99 Dodge Stratus-
I've had crank sensor malfunction twice in as few as 4 months. This time I determined that the frayed belt, abused sensor, perhaps it was frayed first time around and missed it I don't know? Maybe this helps the next guy.

SOURCE: is there 2 timing marks on each cam gears one is

That's how they are marked, its kind of confusing. The best way to line them up is to put the up mark up. Then the marks will line up between the pulleys. There are also marks 180 degrees on the other side of the pulleys. Use a straight edge to line up all 4 marks.

Click on the following direct Free Link. It has the correct Timing Belt Diagrams, including the one for the 2.4L. Scroll down that Page to the Diagram with the 2.4L Camshaft Timing Marks. As you can see there is a 1/2 notch difference. There are also additional Diagrams that will be very useful to you. I've worked alot on the 2.4L and trying to line these up 'perfectly' can cause problems.
Note: That Link Page contains: the 2.4L SOHC, 2.4L DOHC, 2.7L DOHC, and the 3.0L SOHC Engine Diagrams.

I need to know the timing marks for a 2002 Dodge Stratus SE; 2.4, 4cyl, with a duel overhead cam.

Remove the front cover on your timing belt. This will give you access to the timing mark. The mark is at 12 o'clock, straight up. You will see a small indent in the pulley. You have to align the mark exact. You need to make sure it is in the right compression stroke.

I got a 2001 doge stratus and i need to replace the water pump and i never done it before i got the part i jus need a outline of what i got to move to get to the part and how to put it on...

The water pump is driven by the timing belt. You will have to remove the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover. Once the pump is installed you will have to re-install the timing belt. A NEW timing belt is recommended and I always change them. there are "timing" marks on the crankshaft gear and the camshaft gear that need to be aligned and must be "dead on" to prevent serious engine damage. If your not comfortable doing this work I would have a professional do it as you don't want to do it wrong and risk damaging the engine to the point that it needs to be replaced.

Just change timing belt on 98 dodge stratus 2.4l getting code of camshaft sensor malfunction could it be that timing is off

Who replaced the timing belt? The timing could be
off cause timing marks were not aligned before new
belt installed. Distributor is also involved here.

I need the timing mark alignments for a 2005 dodge stratus

It doesn't have timing marks as the timing cannot be adjusted. The timing on the Stratus is computer controlled via the cam and the crank sensors. If you look closely you will see you have a DIS (Distributorless Ignition System).
