Your clutch master cylinder which connects to the clutch pedal is leaking or the slave cylinder on the gearbox is leaking, look under dash and pull back the rubber cover at the back of the master cyl,its where the rod comes out and connects to the pedal pull the rubber cover back on the slave cyl if you see dampness or fluid in one of these areas it needs to be replaced or overhauled,it will be one of these things

Why does the transmision go clunk when you move it from park to revers in my 2004 4.6 ford explorer

What I found when my F250 would go Klunk, I found out that it was low on trans fluid. After allowing it to warm up, I checked it and sure enough, it needed fluid.

After adding, no more Klunk.

Also, when I was helping a buddy change out his clutch, by accident, about a cup full of tranny gear lube, poured out onto the floor.

Not thinking that it was a big deal, we installed clutch and trans and tightened everything up. Only problem it would not shift into any gear.

After messing with the linkage, I remembered the cup of fluid that poured out. There was a cap on the top of trans, so we added about a cup full of gear oil.

Wah Lah! Everything was working normally again.

Check your fluids ... hopefully it is a easy fix for you.

Transmission Issues? Feels like I'm dumping the clutch when I ease into gear. Please help!

Sounds like something broke in the clutch area. The clutch has springs in it. In there for harsh shifts And dumping the clutch. But the pressure plate could possibly do this as it is also spring loaded. Changing the fluid would do this. The fluid only lubricates the internal parts. IE.. gears, bearings, ad synchronizers. being low isn't good, but still wouldn't cause this problem.

Hyundai excel 1996 have to double clutch to change gears

Where is clutch engaging? close to firewall or up high on pedal. If up high, your clutch needs replacing, Low, your clutch is ok, maybe throwout bearing is bad or air in system or not adjusted correctly

A160 goes into gear but can only drive on idle

Start with checking fluid levels. Technically your car has a torque converter not the standard clutch as in a manual. Complete loss of power is usually the result of a breakage in the stator clutch. This said if your fluids are low then the auto will not go - serious damage to transmissions are likely if you run low fluids or the wrong fluids in them

20004 Saturn i am having shifting problems will not go into gear smoothly,if at all . 5th gear in nearly impossible to find with out grinding . Is it the shifter ,clutch or clutch pedal not engaging?

Possible causes are: The clutch is going out, the hydraulic clutch system is low on fluid, or the transmission input shaft is binding on the pilot bearing. 1. Is the pedal firm and does it feel like it used to? (low fluid). 2. Once in gear and moving push on clutch and notice when the transmission disengages. If it does not disengage until the pedal is almost at the top then the clutch is getting thin and will need replacing. 3. With vehicle on a smooth flat surface, depress clutch and try to shift into any and all gears. Notice if vehicle tries to lurch forward as shifter goes into gear. This may be a subtle lurch but should be noticeable. This checks for a binding pilot bushing. Let me know what you find. Thanks and please rate.

I am having a gear shifting problem with my Kia Sportage (4x4 Gasoline engine, 2009 version). taking off from an incline drive it is difficult to shift from first to second gear (grinding noise). Also...

Check your clutch fluid box located by your breaks master cylinder. Your clutch works like your breaks in that when you press the clutch pedal it uses hydraulics to disengage your clutch plate. If it's low or not working properly your clutch plate won't fully disengage and could lead to more problems.

My 1985 chevrolet s-10 pickup 4 speed clutch will not go into gear

These trucks are famous for the hydraulic master cylinder or the slave cylinder for the clutch to start leaking fluid out. When the fluid gets low it won't go in gear. Check the small resevor on the fire wall. Add dot 3 brake fluid if low. Be sure to pull the rubber cup out after taking the top off then add fluid if low.

Standard wont go into gear sometimes if you pump the clutch it does better, Was driving home the clutch was real easy to push but i could not change gears..what is this..

this could be a couple of issues, have you noticed low clutch fluid on your clutch master cylinder? this could be a slave cylinder, master cylinder or it could even be a weakend pressure plate.

1997 sL1 Saturn manual transmission hard to change gears

The dipstick is behind the battery, below the master brake cylinder and is not the clutch reservoir. It has a red flip top handle instead of a ring like most dipsticks. It was hard for me to find due to engine grease. I had the same problem and was able to see that I was low on fluid (only a little) and adding fluid helped the problem. Questions? kurt1431 at comcast dot net.
