Question about 2000 Ford F150 Flareside SuperCab

I bought a 2000 f150 4x4, 5 speed. the truck

I am buying a 2000 f150 4x4, 5 speed. the truck sat for a year. This is a floor shifter, not a push button. Very difficult to move shifter when going between 2h, 4h, n, 4l. I have to use 2 hands to move 4x4 shifter. When transferring to 4l, the low definetly goes to into low gear. Could not tell if 4 wheel was working, have only had a road. Had the rod greased, still hard to shift 4 wheel. Is this the transfer case seizing up from sitting so long or something else. if it is, how hard is it to rebuilt or replace myself. thanks alot.

You can try several things. You can stop the vehicle as if you are going into low range and shift the high range 2h, 4h, etc.. Ford advertises the Electric button type as "shift on the fly" but does not say the gears are synchronized to do that with manual engagement.

Change the lube this time to see if the lube is Milky. There have been floods, otherwise the case is sealed whether you park it or drive it. You still could have rust on the shift linkage. You need to move the linkage as you spray it. Then the offbeat chance something was bent from offroading. A Salvage Yard is a wonderful place to learn how a car is built. You may see their part looks different than yours.

HAVE YOU CHANGED OR CLEANED THE FUEL INJECTORS? ALSO TRY SOME STUFF CALLED "SEA FOAM" I'VE BOUGHT IT AT ADVANCED AUTO PARTS BUT I'D BET IT'S AROUND OTHER PLACES. I PUT THAT IN A 73 CHEVY TRUCK WITH A CARBURETOR THAT SAT FOR MANY YEARS AND IT CLEANED IT UP AND RAN GREAT!!! I WAS VERY SURPRISED!

If its a floor shifter there is a plunger under the floor shifter cover. Do u hear a click when u step on the brake pedel? That release the plunger to let u shift the car into gear.

Sounds like you got a mistry shifter. It might just be out of ajustment, or just plane wore out. If its an old shifter you would be money a head to buy a new one and put it in. Summit racing sells them, Heck i'am not real sure but you might be able to get one at auto zone, or napa, or advance auto. There just a phone call a way. They might even sell kits to repaire yours.
