What is the size socket required for a 2012 Ford Fusion Axle nut? Also, what is the Torque spec to secure it back on? Working with Front-Right wheel.

The one that fits!

That's not the way it works. you buy a socket set. It has one set of AF Sockets and one set of Metric sockets. The one you use is the one that fits.

What is the foot pounds for the front wheel bearings on a 1995 chrysler cirrus

Hello, If you Chrysler has replaceable wheel bearings and seal. This is the way it goes---pack the wheel bearing with new grease-install the bearing in the wheel nub--install new back wheel seal--coat the axle shaft with grease lightly, thing coat-----install wheel hub on to axle shaft...be careful here don't damage the rear hub seal------------insert front race washer---install axle shaft nut--tighten nut down wheel nut until it is firm with water pump pliers----spin the hub/with tire mounted.
(the wheel and hub will turn but not freely)----take the pliers and back off the axle nut 1/4 turn----now spin the wheel and axle hub, it should spin freely---now if doesn't spin freely---back off the axle nut about 1/16 or 1/32 (or just a little bit)-----now, spin the wheel and hub and if turn freely------------Now grab the top of the wheel/tire and move it back and forth.-----if there is some movement ---try tighten the axle nut just a little little bit, unit the one can barely feel some little movement in the wheel/tire and hub.-----------Now, spin the wheel/tire and hub and it should also turn freely.

If it does----install new and correct size of cotter pin and bent the ends around the axle nut.----

coat the inside of the hub cup with grease. Now, use an rubber or plastic hammer to install the cup on the wheel/tire hub. You are finished with one wheel bearing maintenance. Now do the other side.

I really don't know if you Chrysler Cirrus has replaceable wheel bearing. All the auto/trucks have replaceable hubs, that means that the replacement is total hub with axle shaft, sealed bearings, and seals. This is bolt to each wheel steering hub. This work to remove these one unit hubs.

Four bolts hold the axle hub to the steering hub. Hear is the problem!! it has rusted to the steering hub. Also, these hubs cost more than replacing bearings, races, seals to cool turn of $180 to $250+ I wish you luck in your replacement of wheel bearing on your Chrysler. GB..stewbison

How do you take the axle off the hub of a Mazda Tribute 2003

I assume that your tribute is the same as my 2002 Escape, and I assume you're asking about the front axle. The axle is held to the hub by a large nut. After the nut is removed, you may need to press the axle out of the hub, because the spline on the shaft has a slight helix or twist to lock it to the hub. You'll need a special puller from an auotparts store, or you can try to carefully tap the axle out. Excessive tapping on the axle can damage the bearing. If you try tapping, thread the nut on until the threads are fully engaged (but not clamped). Hold a piece of wood on the end of the axle/nut and hit that with a hammer. Good luck.

Need to change a front wheel bearing...is it hard to do myself?

moz-screenshot-2.png-Jack up the car
-remove the tire, 19mm socket
-remove the brake caliper, its either an 18mm or 15mm socket that will remove the bracket bolts.
-remove the rotor
-remove the axle nut, its either a 34 or 36 mm
-unplug ABS sensor connector if equipped
-remove the three bolts that hold the bearing/hub assembly to the knuckle, a 13mm socket will work
Remove the wheel bearing.

It is important to tighten the axle nut to the proper spec. Failure to do so will cause the new bearing to fail. you will need a 1/2" torque wrench for this.

To make removing and installing the axle nut easier place a punch in the fins of the rotor and rotate the rotor until the punch rests on the caliper (it doesn't hurt to put a couple lug nuts on to hold the caliper tight to the hub). This will hold the hub in place while you looses and tighten the axle nut.

How do I change front hub and bearing assembly on 2004 Explorer

Front hub bearing, remove tire, remove caliper and caliper holding bracket, you do not have to remove brake caliper from brake hose, just set it aside, if 4X4 remove front axle nut that goes through center of rotor, also remove brake rotor, disconnect elec, A.B.S connector, remove three bolts on back side of hub bearing, remove hub bearing, some times you will need to knock hub bearing out with a hammer.Reverse to install new hub bearing.

Replace front hub assembly.

Replacing the front wheel bearing/hubs can be a big job for the inexperianced. Briefly...
Remove tire/wheel
Remove brake caliper assembly, do not remove brake line.
Remove caliper bracket.
Remove brake rotor.
Unplug ABS sensor.
Remove the large axle nut.
Press axle out of bearing (may need special tool)
Remove the 3 bearing bolts and remove bearing.

I need an exploded view diagram to see how the RIGHT FRONT wheel HUB ASSEMBLY is installed on my 1997 Mitsubishi Galant. Will I have to mess with the CV, or is it a "bolt off-bolt on" procedure. I'm very...

db7ecae.gif#2 = Hub assembly.
It is a pretty simple process and yes you need to mess with the CV but not much. An impact wrench will make removing the large nut holding the axle in the hub/bearing a whole lot easier. If you have one great, if not, it would be best to try loosening the nut while the car is on the ground. If your car has steel rims with hubcaps(MAGS, I'd put on the spare for this part), start by removing the hubcap then remove the cotter pin that goes through the threaded part of the axle and keeps the nut from coming loose. You may want to spray on some WD-40 and let it soak a little before u start. A breaker bar and socket work well, if u have just a rachet, try to find a 4 foot metal / aluminum tube (old tent pole) and slip it over the handle to give you some more torque to loosen the nut. Once loose, back the nut off and push on the axle shaft to see if it moves, probably won't, so more WD-40. You can raise and support the car, remove the wheel and brake caliper and rotor, that should be plenty of time for the WD-40 to work. Try moving it again, if it moves great, if not, hammer time. If you have a large puch or something comparable use it, you really don't want to damage threads. Leave the nut on the axle just in case you do hit the thread, when the axle is moving, take the nut off and this will straighten out the thread if it was damaged. Only thing left now is to remove the 4 bolts holding on the HUB/BEARING assembly. Once they're out it should slide off the axle with out any problems. Slide on the new one and bolt it back together. ONE CAUTION to note DO NOT MOVE THE CAR IF THE AXLE NUT ISN'T TIGHT, YOU'LL SCRAP THE BEARING!!! Here is a link just to show you what the hub assembly looks like from both sides. Hope this is of some help.

Change front wheel bearings

u will need to remove the brake cailper and the the brake rotor, then the hub retaining nut, that is a large metric nut, the bearing and hub must come off, then u will need to take this hub to a machine shop or the dealer and have the new bearing pressed in.
