Question about 2001 Chevrolet Silverado

Open Question

The power mirrors to my 2001 silverado do not work. I checked a 3 amp fuse labled mir/lock and a 10 amp fuse under the hood "htd mir" and both are good. No power to plug on armrest. I tested the switch and it appears to be good.

SOURCE: both side power mirrors won't work on 2000 silverado

Silverado power mirror/s do not work.
Assuming you have power to the switch, the switch contacts are bad. Each contact may go bad at different times.Pry the switch panel from the door, disconnect the plug to the switch, a small screwdriver may help. Remove the switch by pushing the retaining lugs in & pry out.
Now take it to a clean workbench along with 2 small thin screwdrivers.
Insert 1 driver in beside one of the keeper lugs & pry slightly, continue to the next until the switch comes apart. No springs will fly out.
You will see a control knob & housing, A blue vinyl like cover, Lift the blue cover off, now you will see the contacts on the board.
Take a cotton swab with carb cleaner & scrub the contacts, even a piece of 320 sandpaper.
Next, on the under side of the blue vinyl like cover there brass like contacts fixed to the cover, they need cleaning.
I cut a few 1/8'''x1/8'' # 320 sandpaper,A 1/8'' dowel & hot glued a piece of s-paper on the 1/8'' x6'' dowel.
I then carefully slowly spun the s-paper on the contact. then to the next contact with a new piece of sandpaper & so on.
Lastly cleaning with carb cleaner & blowing dry.
Reassemble, hookup & test Walla! both mirrors work. Time, 20 to 30 min.

Interior lights and door locks not working

The central element here is not a relay but the multi-function alarm lock & lighting (MALL) module. You indicate the 20A fuse in the relay center is OK. The MALL also receives BAT power through 15A CTSY/PWR MIR FUSE 6A and IGN input through 15A IGN CHIME/CLSTR FUSE 10 in the I/P fuse block. Voltage from 20A SIG/BU/LP BTIS/CCR FUSE 18 in the I/P fuse block passes through the park/neutral position switch in PARK position to supply PARK POSITION INPUT to the MALL. All of these inputs are required for the MALL to function correctly.

1999 gmc jimmy power windows locks mirrors wont work

If none of the mirrors or locks work, then you will very likely find a blown MIR/LCK Fuse #7 (10 Amp) in the underhood fuse block. If this is the case, you need to find out WHY the fuse blew because if you simply replace it, it will most likely do it again. Otherwise, the locks and mirrors also connect to the Body Control Module (BCM). I would recommend scanning the BCM for fault codes.

The windows are a completely separate circuit. They have nothing in common with the mirrors or locks other than than that they all ultimately get power from the battery and the circuits run through the umbilicals that go between the body and the doors.

If none of the windows are working, the most likely cause is an open power circuit or open ground circuit at the driver's door. This could be either a bad master control switch or is could be that the wires inside the umbilical are broken (fairly common).

1994 S-10 Blazer 4.3L 4x4 Rear window push button (opens window over tail gate) on dash stopped working yesterday. Would this likely be a fuse? I cant use the key + handle from the outside as it...

There are two fuses. There is a fuse in the fuse panel on the end of the dash and there is one in the fuse box under the hood. Check this both fuses if the fuse checked out ok or if fuse replaced and still the same problem then the push button switch connections needs to be checked. The description for both the fuses is as follows
:---
the 3amp fuse under the hood which is for the mirrors and locks. its labeled on the diagram as mir/lck 3a i believe.
and the one on the drivers side of the dash which is labled for the power locks.
------- Keep updated.Thanks.

Power locks and mirrors out. Driver power window out.

Your chevy uses two fuses for the system. The power lock actuators are on the 15 amp fuse inside the truck. The fuse for the switches (locks and mirrors) are under the hood. For 99 to 04 (I think those are the years) there is a TSB on replacing the 3 amp fuse under the hood with a 5 amp fuse because this is a well known problem of having these blow.

Your drivers side window is a different issue. If the rest are working your problem is in the motor or getting power to the motor. The wires that go from the body to the door often crack and break with the opening and closing of the door.

2001 Sienna rear window defogger doesn't work

There are 3 fuses that control the rear defogger, and 1 relay

The fuses are: 10 amp HEATER, 10 amp MIRROR-HEATER; under the dash
The 30 amp DEF fuse is in the fuse box under the hood
The relay is the DEFOGGER relay, which is on the back side of the fuse panel under the dash

Also, check for a loose wire on the defroster grid (on the back glass), this is the most common problem.
