Its behind the dashboard and should be around the middle of the dash,

Make sure the pipes are very hot to touch and not warm, If there just warm your thermostat possibly gone or the the heater core it self may be dead

My heat works only on passenger side and is not very hot at all. But the other day the vent on drivers side near the window worked just for that day...sometimes the heat on passengers side is extreme

I would talk to a dealer or two.
You could have a damaged heater box or blend door. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the vents.
There was a recall for some blend doors on some Jeep models.
You may have to contact factory customer service to get it fixed.

I don't have repair info for cars sold outside of the US, but in general terms you would check the blend doors under the dash for problems.

My 93 Grand Cherokee has a problem with "not" switching from blowing air down at ones feet to ones chest area. I know the fan is working fine, but it will only blow air thru the lower vents and...

  • Sounds like your Blend Door Actuator is malfunctioning. What that does is move an arm to open a door down on the blower motor to send the air into the passages you choose. If the Actuator goes bad or the plastic arm to the door snaps or breaks then you get air flow where ever it broke at and it won't change until you make that door function again. Please see the picture I uploaded so you can see what I am referring too.
  • The Blend Door itself were known for sticking too so you may want to investigate inside the heater box as well.
  • You will find the Actuator itself on the side of the blower motor housing.
