Some thing is wrong with the window guides and must be addressed. You should lube the guides with silcone sprayoccasionly to keep free. This spray is great for anything rubber. I never had the plastic come off the window. That doesn't sound good. hth

1996 Mercury Mystique Window

Here are the instructions:
    • Gently remove the door panel of your Contour, ensuring that you don't break the three door clips that hold it on. As you pull the panel from the door, support the panel from below. This will ensure that none of the wiring inside the door is damaged. Release the wiring from the components inside the door, including the power window mechanism, power lock mechanism (if equipped) and the stereo speaker. Place the door panel in a safe area with the clips so they are accessible when you are ready to replace them.
    • 2Remove the window glass by sliding it up and out of the door. Support the glass from the bottom so it doesn't drop and break. Window glass for a Contour can cost around $150 to replace. After you remove the glass, put it in a safe place. You may want to wrap it in old towels or blankets to protect it until you are ready to reinstall it.

    2. Remove the front door window/lock control switch bezel.
    3. Disconnect the window/lock control switch electrical connectors.
    4. Remove the 3 front door trim panel screws.
CAUTION To avoid damaging the trim panel, do not pull directly outward to carry out this step.
    5. Lift the door trim panel by pulling directly upward on the armrest to disengage the panel clips.
    6. Remove the exterior mirror control switch from the front door trim panel.
  2. Remove the front door speaker.

The drivers side window stoped working on my 2004 silverado the passenger side works fine

Try the fuse. The switch may be faulty so check by removing the inner door panel and connecting a 12v battery via two wires to the motor that winds the window up and down. If it goes up and down it's probably the switch which may just need a clean on the terminals.

My LF window does not go down, there is no sound, 2002 bmw x5

If you hear clicking, the motor is working. While the regulator may be stiff, (binding), which could be the ultimate cause of the problem, it sounds like you have a nylon gear broken, or not properly meshed. All this would probably be part of the regulator assembly.

My rear electric window doesn´t go back up

Does it go up if you pull on it? It could be anything from bad connection to broken wire to binding.
Take the door panel of and check all the wires. Check the switch also.
If the window goes up if you help it, it is more than likely just out of alignment or something is jamming it.

FRONT LEFT WINDOW DOES NOT OPERATE

i would say it is the regulator (so have a new one/or good replacement), and it will come out of the openings. once you have the bolts removed for the regulator the window should come down to a place you can remove the bolts that attach it to the regulator. After the window is unbolted side it back up and tape it up and out of the way. you will need to likly use the old motor on the new part but it just bolts to the regulator. Once you have the moter on install it in the door. Good luck

Replacing window regulator

You can buy the plastic clips from the dealer, break the old ones, there is no tool that I remember using, in fact I don't remember having any problem, are you sure the regulator is at fault? why not just replace the motor?
