Its to the left of the brake master cylinder. Once you find it, you will find a way to get it off.

Hi, My 1990 Nissan Pulsar will not move into gear. When I try to put it into reverse or any gear it grinds loudly? Thankyou Alison

Try putting it in gear with the engine turned off. If you can and then push the clutch in and start it and drive away Ok The clutch may have been stuck. What's more likly is the clutch master cyclinder has run out of break fluild ( it's next to the break master cyclinder but smaller) It needs to be full of break fluild and ussally (DOT 3) . If it's low top it off with clean fluid and pump the clutch pedel alot to get it working again then go back under the hood and llok to see there it's leaking at. Look int the floor as the peals rod comes into the car to connect to the pedal. If it's coming out ther it'll need and new clutch master cyclinder ( they fail alot) and or on the side oif the transmissin there the lines from the master connects to the clutch slave cylinder its leakingf and it can be replaced too ( common , even more common then the master going bad ) Most shops require if their going to fix the car to change them both.

I have no resistance when pressing in the clutch on my 1994 toyota pick up. I think the fluid is low but do not know where the resevoir is to refill it

Alright, non resistance when pressing the clutch can be for couple of reason, First the fluid is low, and you can tap this off by filling it up, The resevior for it in your master cyclinder pistol which is located towards the top firewall of your driver side. Next to your brake fuild refill tank. Top this off to it's recommended level with brake fluid the DOT requirement. If still no pressuire from your clutch, then it could be your master cylinder, Test this by pressing on the clutch and have someone open the resvior tank cap and see if there is any movement in the liquid. If there is, then it could be your slave cylinder where it is located towards your clutch housing. Once located, You can also test it by bleeding the bolt to see and having someone pressing on the clutch to see if fluid is being push or with the bleeding bolt screwed back on, see if the metal rod connected to the slave cylinder is moving when clutch is being pushed inside. If everything seems to work, then your clutch is bad, damaged pilot, or clutch bearing or simply worn out clutch.

My car is a 5 speed standard can push clutch petal near to floor before it does anything,,is like when brakes go....what is wrong

Shure your right. There's a master cyclinder just like your brakes have and it's smaller and it's right next to the master cyclinder for the brakes and it uses brake fluild. It needs to be full and bleed just like brakes and if they leak they need the leaking part replaced. Being you didn't say what kind of car or truck you have I can't tell you the details on how to check further. The parts you change and where their located are in differentplaces on different cars.

Clutch not disengaging

i would say master cyclinder or slave cyclinder needs replaced if you know what im talking about, then have a look you will see fluid seeping from the culpert.adrian,,,,,,,,,

Have a 1990 150 lariat 4x4 put new trans in,clutch,slave cyclinder,and clutch master cyclinder, still having problems with the clutch pedal being low, i bleeded the clutch several time but it won't come...

I assume that the master cylinder is correctly installed. In that case the master cylinder's piston rod (to which the pedal is attached) is too short or maladjusted.

Leaking clutch fluid but we can't see from where. Master cylinder looks ok. Is the slave located in the clutch housing? Could it be leaking in there? We have to top up and bleed every 3-4 weeks even when...

Yes its down by the bell housing. Yes it could very well be leaking there. Might be worn seals on the actuator as well. Easy to replace at least. Are you feeling a sloppy pedal or limited travel on the clutch?

Don't know where the clutch cyclinder is

I believe the brake and clutch master cylinders share a common reservoir. The problem is more likely going to be the SLAVE cylinder located on the side of the trans. Easier to replace but will need to be "bled" to restore function.

1990 jeep wranger slave cyclinder

The clutch slave cylinder on this model is located inside the transmission bell housing. You would have to pull the tranny to see it.
Bleeding the slave cylinder is a fairly simple process.
Underneath the vehicle on the driver side you will see two hydraulic lines going into the transmission where the tranny connects to the engine. If you have trouble locating just follow the hydraulic line from the master cylinder on the firewall.
One of these lines is actually sticking out of the tranny and has a bleeder valve on the end.
You will need a 9/16 box end wrench and a 5/16 or 1/4 inch box end wrench and someone with you to press the clutch pedal while you are under the vehicle.

1. Top off the master cylinder with clean brake fluid. Also, MAKE SURE you keep the fluid level in the master cylinder topped off during this process. You may need to have a second helper to take care of this so you don't have to keep climbing out from underneath.

2.Hold the line with the 9/16 and loosen the bleeder valve a couple turns or until fluid begins to drain. Have someone SLOWLY depress the clutch pedal to the floor and hold it down to the floor until you tighten the bleeder valve back up. MAKE SURE YOU ARE OUT OF THE WAY OF THE SQUIRTING FLUID WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED!!

3. Once you are sure the valve is tight, have them pump the clutch pedal a couple times . Repeat step two until the pedal has a full stroke.
