Are you just short on words? You must explain. Sounds like a tow to the dealer.

We have a xj8 99 and restricted performance light comes on only when car gets warm. We changed the computer but still have the problem check eng. Light is on to. Any ideas

run the fault codes as the engine light is warning you of potentially expensive problems if you continue to ignore the warning
The ECM puts the car in limp mode to help protect the engine and transmission form damage but if you continue to play at fixing rather than going to a specialist shop and have the codes read to really fix the fault it will cost you big money

I have Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost 2012. I have experienced an intermittent problem where I get a loss of power (turbo not working)and car goes into "limp" mode. No warning light appears and the car

thats sounds like a possible boost control solenoid failure.when the boost solenoid fails it wont activate a warning light and because of the lack of boost the engine computer fail safe feature will put it in limp mode in order to keep the driver from harming the engine

Traction warning light comes on at 30mph and puts it in safe/limp mode - can't get faster but also doesn't slow down unless I press the break (even when not touching the accelerator)

Probly a computr issue...dont guess on parts. Unplug it and clean pins..then plug back in..see if car reboots. If no git it scand but find anothr mech. Go to surecritic.com

Check engine light

Two reasons.
One, the reason the warning light is on is to tell the driver the engine computer has found a problem with the performance or emissions which could damage the catalytic converter. So you need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes as soon as you can.
Second, when the warning light is on, the engine is running in "safe mode" and is not using all of the sensor readings, so you won't get the best performance in that situation.

"fail safe engine mode". this warning comes on constantly when driving usually in poor weather conditions

This warning means that a fault has occurred that would have disabled the car in older models, the computer control has worked around the fault to avoid stranding you with a non operational car. You need to see a dealer or a well equipped shop and have the computer scanned for the fault code or codes that are stored when this happens. The engineers who design cars and trucks call this "Failure Mode Strategy"

Smart car keeps cutting out whilst driving

If all power is lost in the car, it could indicate a bad battery connection, bad wiring, or loose main wire harness, etc.

If a warning light comes on - it may be going in to Safe Mode.

Safe mode is the set of parameters that the car will use if it believes there
is a fault with the engine that could cause irrepairable or long term damage.

Generally it is an excess in expected boost pressure entering the engine.
This excess boost from the turbo tends to happen for 4 reasons.

The boost pressure sensor (MAP sensor) is faulty.
The wastegate is seized shut or slightly open.
The wastegate actuator is faulty.
The air line to the wastegate actuator is damaged or off.

Obviously, if the sensor is faulty, it will tell the ECU lies about the boost pressure.
If the wastegate assembly fails in any way it will fail to open to bypass the turbo.
The turbo will continue to spin up, increasing the boost pressure, causing the fault.

Initially I would suggest disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes (make sure you know your
radio code before doing this), this will turn safe mode off and your car should run normally
again. Drive home with a bit of care, you may find the car might never do it again. If it does
go into safe mode again, you know you have a real problem and not just a glitch.

Best to contact your dealer and have it checked out.

I do not know about a Jag. But the "fail safe engine mode " on my GMC means the Engine Controll Computer has quit working.

Enigine fail safe mode

I encountered the same problem, my engine fail safe mode light came on and shut the car down. I took my car to my mechanic and he found the solution to the problem. The car needed a throttle body cleaning and the fuel filter needed to be replaced. After having my truck serviced my mileage increased from 14.6 mpg to 15.4 mpg
ENGINE FAILED SAFE MODE WARNING LIGHT, GONE Total cost $86.45

1997 isuzu wizard mu check light

Code 24 is a vehicle speed signal sensor fault, the sensor most likely does not provide a useable signal until about 25 MPH, when the computer doesn't see any signal after that speed it turns on the light. Make sense?
