Door at Gas filler will not open - 1987 Nissan 300ZX

you will need to remove the fuse for the power side doors and back. Disconnect the battery to reset the ECU and the doors should open and close manually just fine. There is a safety release on the gas filler port to prevent the door on that side from opening with the port is opened. Make sure the fuel filler cap door works properly, if the sliding door on that side is the one that won't open.

the filler door spring has broken and will not open the door until you get the door open to replace it.

There is a fuel filler door release switch on the driver's side door in the map pocket. The fuel filler door will pop open when the switch is pressed. It is closed manually.

If this system is malfunctioning, a manual release is located in the trunk. Remove the access cover which is located on the left-side inner trim panel and pull the release cable. The fuel filler door will pop open.

I'm having this problem with my 2003 nissan maxima. I keep the driver side door open and keep my hand at the edge where the fuel door hinge is, and reache the button with a screwdriver or pen, and as it press the button, I push on the fuel door panel and it comes out. I'm going to replace the fuel door sooner or later. It all looks kinda dumb at the gas station.

I had trouble with my left side power door recently - someone had 'popped' open the gas filler door - the open gas filler door disengages the electrics from the left side door (Honda safety obsession).
