Thermastat replacment

PO116 has nothing to do with the thermostat, but rather indicates the engine coolant temp sensor is out of range, which usually means the sensor has failed. Very common problem, and as this part tells the ECU how to adjust fuel ratio to current engine temp it acts sort of like the choke on an older carburetor type engine. This part is usually very easy to change, and relatively inexpensive. Your parts store should have a component location chart to show where it is one your engine. NOTE: there are often two coolant temp unit--one called the Sender is for the dash gauge, while the Sensor is for the ECU.

Obdii cods gmc po116

This code refers to the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit. The computer is not getting a proper reading from that circuit. Often the problem is a faulty sensor, but it could be a wiring problem in the circuit, a poor connection at the sensor, or a missing or stuck open thermostat.
The ECT sensor is a two-wire sensor located in a coolant passage area, usually around the thermostat housing.

My chevy cavalier 2005, the speedometer and temperature gauge stopped working. I'm not sure whats wrong and don't want to get ripped off at the dealers. Please help if there is something I can check...

Is the ck engine light on If so take to a auto parts store that will ck the car for codes and that will tell you if the speed sensor is working or not> If the speed sensor is not working the ck engine light will be on and the car will have stored that code.If there are no codes that it is most likely the cluster for the speedometer not working . Now the temperature guage not working is the needle spunaround backwards past the stop If so that replace the cluster .If not than it needs to be ckd for a bad tempature sensor. This should also set a code and turn the ck engine light.
