Question about Volvo V70

1 Answer

'01 V70 T5 throwing Fault Code:P1171. Now, I know that is defined as: "Fuel Adaptation, Bank 1", but what does that mean? What is the issue or what part is faulty? I hope it has to do with the ETM because that would explain my serious transmission problems(even after replacing it). Thanks for the help!

01 volvo s80 t6 fuel adaptation bank 1 code P1174 iv looked every where on the web an cant seem to find anything on the code.

t means that your fuel system has reached its limit of compensation for the fuel system. As the engine is driven if the fuel system computer sees that the fuel mixture is too rich or too lean it begins to compensate by increasing or decreasing the amount of time the injectors are on. When it reaches its limit it throws the code. It is usually a vacuum leak or bad oxygen sensor that sets the code

What do codes P1175 & P1237 actually mean? Why are there so many options to choose from? How can I actually repair it?

The ECM has numerous sensors that are read continuously and these results are checked against pre-set parameters in the CPU memories. Every possible cause of a fault code is an associated sensor that is being affected by the fault so there are several possible reasons that cause the fault . That is to say wiring is a possible cause ---the unit itself is another possible cause---low /high voltage is another and so on. Take it to a service centre as with most makes of vehicles there is a common fault problem that experienced technicians are aware of and can pin point quickly. As with advice from readers the causes are general areas of advice to look at so if it appears confusing then take it to an experienced shop.

Hi there:
DTC P1171 - Fuel Adaption, Bank 1

Generally this is a fuel injector fault; first I suggest replace the fuel filter and run through some good quality fuel injection system cleaner, if this isnt solve the problem, you will need visit your autoshop in order to check and test orther components with other Volvo specific tools.
