Your handbreak connects to the rear breaks follow the cable from your break drum where the 2 meet is the ajustment give it a squart of penertrating oil before ajusting as it has been open to the weather also there is further ajustment where the cable enters the hand break lever good luck ps if this dosent do the trick i suggest you cable is fully streched you will need to fit a new one

I changed the cables from the parking brake mazda protege 1999 and does not work properly

First make sure the brake shoe linings are ok and the shoe adjusters are free . slacken off the handbrake cable then adjust brake shoes ,then pull handbrake leaver on three clicks tighten cable to feel a slight drag at the wheels, release brake leaver and check wheels are free to turn.

Have just replaced the left rear brake pads on a 1996 mazda lantis, Unfortunately l h handbrake now not pulling up far enough to work, How do you adjust the handbrake as R H side working ok

on rear pads they will automatically adjust up on theri own as the piston will wind itself out unless the vehicle has a handbrake thats seperate with brake shoes inside the read disk and iam not familar with this model to tell you if it is of this later type

After replacing the rear pads on my mazda 3, the handbrake light comes on intermittently and now continuously.

This is a common mistake, but one that requires urgent attention......the handbrake light is also a brake warning light (fluid level). As you put new pads in the back, you will need also to top up the brake fluid reservoir in the master cylinder under the bonnet.

I hope this solves your problems.

How do I adjust the handbrake in a Mazdz MX5 19990

Usually a simple brake adjustment will put the parking brake where it should be. Do not adjust any cables unless as a last resort.

Replaced rear calipers and need to know where to adjust emergency brake, 1999 mazda 626

Not 100% sure but peel back the handbrake lever cover.Beside the lever where the handbrake cable attaches there may be an adjuster there.Either directly on the cable itself or by locknuts threaded on the cable.Hope this helps
