Question about 2005 Ford Five Hundred
2005 FORD FIVE HUNDRED SEL CHECK TRANSMISSION AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
What/where is the pedal sensor. The TP Sensor is working i can see it on my OBD II device.
Thanks for using FixYa. The check engine light is on because ECM (Control Module) detected a fault with your car's system. ECM has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and your car needs to be looked at.
The simplest way is to visit your local dealer or a repair shop for proper diagnostic. They have all the equipment and information needed to diagnose and correct the problem. The problem might even be covered by the manufacturers warranty and possibly repaired free of charge. Some auto parts stores can also do the "Check Engine" light diagnostic for free. Please also check the EGR valve.
The PCM can be reset using the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester or by disconnecting the battery ground cable for five minutes. If the battery ground cable was disconnected to clear Diagnostic Test Connector (DTC), the vehicle may operate rough for the first few miles until adaptive values are relearned. The DTC is located on LH side of engine compartment, on transaxle behind coolant reservoir. Use suitable jumper wire, jump BL/W and GY/BL wires to resolve the issue.
Error code P1576 means pedal position not available. You’ll have to remove the negative battery terminal for more than 5 minutes. If still the issue persists, then you’ll need to remove the whole pedal assembly and replace it. The TP means the Throttle Position which is connected with the Pedal Sensor.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
