Try turning the key to the on position and put your foot on the brake pedal and shift in to neutral and try to start it there, wiggle the shifter a little towards reverse and towards drive to see if it fire,
if it doesnt check you headights to see if they are bright,or check voltage at battery with a multi meter, you need at least 12volts.
next try moving the cables on the battery to make sure they are tight

If you have a chip in your key it may be a VATS problem. If you can start it by jumping the solenoid this will be a good indication.

My 1998 Pontiac Firebird, 3.8 liter, won't start and has juice in the battery. When I try to start it, the break pedal seems to be locked up.

Did you try to jump start it with another car?
Could be a number of things---Dirty battery ends, loose battery ends, loose or bad ground cable, bad cell in the battery or starter going bad ect....

Hello I have a problem with my Pontiac 2002 Trans Am - Collector Edition. It does not want any more to start, there is the indicator SECURTITY which east lights, and since average making it...

Check the battery voltage with a multimeter. If the battery can't deliver a full 12 volts, the starter solenoid won't even activate. It may be that a cell went dead, causing a direct short inside the battery. Replace the battery if your battery is older than 3 years, or take it to an auto parts store to have it tested. The security light on is an issue many people have when the battery is low and the car won't start.

It is also possible that the security chip on the ignition key is worn. If it isn't making contact properly, the computer won't 'read' the resistor, and won't start. You will need to replace the key to see if this fixes the problem.

Went to start nothing.starter is fine battery fine fuses fine. please help!

Some possibilities if you know absolutely those things are fine: A fuseable link has blown, a problem with the ignition switch, you don't have it in Park (if automatic trans), or if in Park the switch there is bad, if manual the clutch switch could be bad. If you recently did maintenance or anything under the hood, retrace your steps. I is probably a simple but tricky thing to find. It is pretty hard to pinpoint everything from here without being hands-on. Good luck.
