Question about 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

Transmission leaking? Me and my father just had my 1999 4.3l 2 wd Chevrolet Blazer rebuilt, there were no transmission problems prior to the rebuild. When it came time to start the ******, trans fluid steadily leaked. Not from the cooler lines nor the pan. It seems to be coming out of where the engine meets trans, maybe. definitely not near the back seal. we've about had enough with these complications, its been six months. some serious professional help would be ridiculously useful. Please help me. Thank you so much.

Can automatic transmission with no reverse, 2nd or 4th gear be fixed without rebuild?

Check your transmission fluid level. [I rebuilt a C-4 Ford in a college class. Had a big leak. After I put 9 more quarts of trans fluid in it worked. ] 2 quarts low will make it fail. Be sure and use the correct fluid for your brand and year of car. Big Chain advertised Trans rebuild shops are often a scam. They take apart your trans then want thousands to put it back together. The Federal Trade Commission nailed them for this years ago. Find a local shop recommended by several GOOD mechanics. Dealers are usually good but expensive. Most trans repairs can be done without removing the trans. A good shop can test the trans while mounted in the car. Can hook up test hoses and see what is happening. This was true in 1980s when I took the class. Might have electronic tests now. If it is an older trans the fluid is thick. Putting in new thin fluid will make it worse.
Auto Trans are hydraulic "brain surgery" If you can find a guaranteed rebuilt trans that's a good route. Putting it in takes a lot of skill and a lift. My neighbor tried it in his driveway, it failed and after 2 months took it to a shop. Damaged the pump $$$
[I drive a stick shift with crank up windows. It has 4 / 60 Air Conditioning 4 windows open 60 Miles per hour !!! :) Good Luck

Sluggish start from stop, like its starting is 2nd gear

good old-- needs a new transmission answer to a problem--
codes do not recommend a new transmission but give causes for the problem
like servo, solenoid, pressure , torque converter clutch etc, possible mechanical failure
with the transmission operating fine after 10 mph there is no mechanical problems requiring a new transmission so it is electronic issues that have to be addressed
the issues could be a simple broken vacuum hose to the transmission actuator, wiring connections ( corroded , water , loose broken wires)
Take it to an accredited professional transmission specialist shop and have a proper diagnosis and quote done

1997 chevy blazer awd - no reverse and slipping in forward - oil good no leaks - whats this?

It sounds like the sun shell inside the transmission that is faulty, and that is due to a manufacturing process..
Unfortunately, this problem requires a rebuild or replacement of the transmission. The same thing happened to me about a month ago with my 97 Blazer. It cost me $1200.00 for a local transmission shop to rebuild mine.
"
The "sun shell" connects the reverse input drum to the sun gear. The 2/4 band wraps around the reverse drum. When the reverse clutches are applied the sun shell spins the sun gear. When the 2/4 band is applied the sun shell holds the sun gear from spinning. This is why when it breaks you lose reverse, second and fourth"

R&r of alternator for 2003 trail blazer Any thing special to pay attention to? Will remove battery conection prior to removal of old one.

Onceyou have the altenator removed, confirm that the diode pack is workin correctly. If it s not, change the pack. If it is, trade the altenator for a rebuilt one. Look in the yellow pages for a starter/altenator rebuilder.

1993 Chevy Silverado Blazer wont shift into 3rd gear

Check transmission fluid with vehicle up to temp (after driving) and running at idle on level ground. If slightly overfull no problem. Be sure to remove dipstick, wipe clean and reinstall/remove for accurate fluid level check.

I lost reverse.. in my 98 chevy blazer... 2 wheel drive...

The transmission is a 4L60E. The best bet is to see how much a transmission shop would to be rebuild it. Rebuilding a transmission is a daunting task and professionalism is something you need for transmissions. I have worked on many cars trucks and semis and a transmission is one of those things you have to bear a brunt of getting done by someone else. If you do not need your blazer for every day driving rebuilding a transmission is a good thing to learn just remember to take pictures of everything and mark and lable and bag and tag everything. I wish you the best of luck!
