My powersteering locked up twice in wet weather

If this happens as your hitting a large puddle then I would check to see if all of the splash shields are installed under the jeep. these help keep water off of the serpentine belt than turns the P/S pump. As you hit a puddle the water splashes up onto the belt causing it to slip reducing pump pressure.

How do you remove the fan and fan clutch assembly form the water pump on a 1995 jeep gran cherokee with a v8

Remove the serpentine belt, 4 bolts that hold fan on, and it should come off. you might have to take the fan shroud off to get room, But try reaching in first to save some work!

Power steering

I have recently had to work on 3 different jeep cherokees 92, 98, 99 and have encountered a similar problem on the 92. The serpentine belt broke and needed replacement, it connects all the major functions in your motor including your power steering, fan, water pump and yes altenator...after replacing your new powersteering pump (which by the way is a real pain in the **** with having to mount the new pulley...)
The jeep wouldnt start and I also had a drained battery so I had to use a jump box to get it started...there is no such thing as a safety for power steering...
