Most sensors are in the fuel tank. This should left to a repair shop since the fuel tank will have to be removed.

Trouble shooting fuel gauge

the good news its most likely a stuck Censer the bad news its in the fuel tank. may be a bad wire between tank and gauge but censers go out more often than not

If my gas censer is stuck how can I get it unstuck

If the gas gauge does not move, you would unplug the harness at the tank and check to see if the gauge still works. If it does, the problem would be the float in the tank, and the tank would need to be dropped to gain access.

2001 gmc somona still sputtering and sometimes stalling after fuel pump change and new spark plug and wire change. We cleaned fuel injectors and changed fuel filter. Need HELP asap!!!

we was having the same problem with ours, we replaced map censer and tps, but that wasn't our problem , ended up being a loose wire, going to the fuel pump, on top of the gas tank, try checking the fuel pressure???, them censers wasnt cheep, but they might have something to do with it too,

Co2 too high

At idle or higher rpm...on a test ? With a scanner you could look at the STFT ( Short Term Fuel Trim.)

This would give you an idea how much adaption is being applied to the fuel delivery.

Any number above 12% will cause CHECK ENGINE ( MIL) to come on.

This problem can have several causes. Most common would be too high fuel pressure.

Next would be faulty injector/s.

Next would be restricted exhaust system.

Another would be coolant running too cool.

Lastly catalytic converter efficiency too low. Although this should trip a code for that part of the emission system.

Of course it doesn't stop there, the resistance in a sensor can be out of range or resistance in the wire loom connectors and/or battery ground cable connection resistance and also alternator problem feeding too much A/c ( Alternating Current, known as ripple.) into the charging system.

So...as you can see it will take some diagnostic time to identify your problem.

Try here for a shop near you that might help...http://www.iatn.net/shopfinder/

My 99 intrigue no longer allows me to pump in more than a couple of gallons of gas before it starts back flowing out the tank. what gives? is it a censer? thanks for your help!

I'm not sure what it is called, but if you from underneath at the gas hose you will see a black box with a wire going to it hooked up to the gas down pipe. Mine did the same thing and thats what I had to replace. Hope this helps

Hi there
sounds like you done allot to this car. did you clean your gas tank? Reason i say this there are times you get bad gas that water with it. and it sounds like you got water in your tank. need to get it out. Try this get some rubbing alcohol and poor it in your tank. It won't hurt it. It will soak up the water that's in your tank. try this and let me know how it goes.
Thank you for writing to fix ya.
Best Regards Richard

Car stalls will not restart for a few minutes ,motor is warmed up stop at red light and motor will not start for about 5 minutes and runs very well starting good for about a month, then stalls again.

Have you tried putting some gas additive like sea foam into the gas tank prior to filling it up? It may be a bad or clogged injector.

When is the last time you did a tune up, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap with rotor etc?

Is the engine surging in rpm? if so, try replacing the mas air flow censer and or O2 censer.
