Could be several problems but start with the simple stuff. First if it only happens when the vehicle has been running for awhile and could be temperature related which may be the ignition module. Also has the fuel filter been changed?

Shuts down going down the road shuts off completely

vehicle shuts down while driving down road and does not start backup for at least 20 minutes, could be a bad crank sensor. if bad it will start and run fine, but it will keep shutting down until fixed.
