SOURCE: 1999 jeep cherokee se 2.5 / 4 cyl / 4x4 flashing oil light

If the engine is not making any ticking noises while light is on, it's likely that the oil pressure sending unit is going bad. Generally, it's located near the oil filter, but every time I tell someone a location, I'm wrong. (can't remember everything) It's not hard to find and anyone at a decent parts house can point it out to you.
good luck also check that the wire going to it is not chafed and shorting to block!

Engine Cooling problem 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4 cyl

Although the 4 cylinder is too underpowered to have air conditioning in my opinion, it still shouldn't overheat within 10 minutes unless something is wrong. If your Jeep doesn' not overheat when you are driving WITHOUT AC on then your compressor might have a problem and causing the engine to work too hard to turn it.

But if it overheats without the AC on, then the first thing you need to do is check the cooling fan and see if it operates! There has been a lot of problems with the cooling fan relay on this model. If that isn't it, then move to changing the thermostat and checking the water pump.

How do I install a thermostat on a 1999 jeep grand cherokee v8 4.7 engine

Hello,

To install a thermostat on Your 1999 grand cherokee jeep. You will be needing these instruments, Container, Clamp tool or vise-grip pliers, Thermostat and gasket, 10mm socket or wrench, Razor blade, Flathead screwdriver (if necessary). Then You carefully follow the steps below:
  1. Open drain **** on the radiator to drain the coolant from your Jeep Grand Cherokee. This drain **** is located on the lower right side facing the rear of your Cherokee. Use a seal able container and reuse the coolant if it is relatively new and clean.
  2. Follow the upper radiator hose to the point where it meets the thermostat housing. The thermostat is located inside the housing. Use a clamp tool or vise-grip pliers to loosen the clamp holding the hose to the housing. Work the end of the radiator hose free of the thermostat housing.
  3. Remove two bolts holding on the thermostat housing cover. Pull off the cover. Take note of the position of the old thermostat. Remove and install the new thermostat in exactly the same position.
  4. Scrape off residue of the old thermostat gasket from the inside of the thermostat housing cover using a razor blade. Avoid getting any debris inside the thermostat housing.
  5. Install the new gasket. Reattach the thermostat housing cover and radiator hose. Start your Jeep Cherokee and run the heater on high. Allow the engine to warm up. Check for leaks.
Those are the steps to follow to install your thermostat.
Hope this was helpful. Thank You for using fixya!!!

How can i use the 4 x 4 in my 2000 grand cherokee laredo (6 cyl) i dont have the owners manual and i dont know how to use my 4x4 on snow or something like that

With the Jeep in park, move the left shifter to 4 wheel drive. Proceed to put right shifter into drive, proceed to drive. Only use 4wheel drive when neccessary...ie...snow, mud, use 4 wheel lo in steep incline or when really bogged down.

Hope this helps

No pressure when i press break, slight leak under left rear tire,

1st need to know where the leak is? Is it a rusted line, or? To bleed after repairing leak, do the following: Have a helper start the Jeep, go to the wheel the greatest distance from the master cylinder, have helper pump brake pedal 3 times, pushing down about 1/2 way on pedal each time. 3rd time, he should hold pedal at 1/2 way down point while you open bleeder to let air/fluid out. As flow is about to stop, close bleeder. Repeat til all air removed. Check master cyl and refill often, because if you draw in air, you have to start all over. Go to the next wheel that's now the greatest distance from master cyl, repeat, til you get to wheel closest to master cyl. Done!!

Oxygen Censor

The thermostat will not harm the sensor, but the entire engine control system is designed to operate at 210 degrees, therefore all sensors will not recieve proper information,,,end result may be improper mixture in the exhaust pipe, triggering o2 sensor fault reading!

Need to change my thermostat on my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4WD

I do not know a link to a diagram, but I can certainly tell you how to find the thermostat! Looking at the front of the engine, there is a large water hose at the top of the motor that goes to the left, and attaches to the radiator. Not the radiator end, but the other end attaches to the thermostat cover. It has 2 bolts to take out and the little thing between that, and the motor about 2" around that kind of looks like a spinning top, is the thermostat. It is easy to change. Make sure you get ALL the old gasket off and that both bolts go through the new one, and you should be in business!
