Your glass was originally heat sealed to the top material. When it begins delaminating, your only recourse is to replace the top because your new top will come with a new window. Any sticky gooey repairs are very temporary at best

Good luck, Karl at

Condensation on the inside of the windows

common problems to all beetles, its common to all old rubber seals eventrually you will need to replace front and the rear rubber seal, they do get old deteriate over times, they are pain to do it yourself, most body shop can replace the seal for you for little to nonthing. seal are also cheap. there's really no electrical straight below the rear window that any moister can damage. before you make that purchase, just make sure all the turn single, brakes and headlight working properly, and the floor pan on both side is not rusted.

How do you install the glass on the back window

Once you have new window, and the old rubber seal is removed from old window. (guitar string or wire works well for this)

Then Insert new seal, place silicone all through out seal, insert new window and press or pry rubber seal over new window and let dry.

Need help with window seals on the drivers door.

The two pieces at the bottom of the window attach seperately to the sheet metal. There is an inside and an outside piece. They grip the sheet metal with clips. You will need to press them on or tap lightly to install. They can be difficult to install. Make sure the clips line up with the slot and press into place. The same goes with the seal around the window. It pushes in to the gap.
