Re: Where is the fuel filter located on a 1997 s-10?
It depends on which filter you want to change. There are 2 filters, one along the frame, the drivers side , and the other is on the motor, just before the injection system. If its carborated the fuel filter will be along the frame, if its injected it will be on top of the motor. Theres 2 clamps that hold it in on both types that hold it in. If its along the frame, it will be a steel line into a rubber hose into filter then back into steel. Ifs its injected, it will be infront or back of the injecters.

If a petrol engine then their is a gauze filter inside the fuel tank on the pick up pipe ,Unless you have been filling with fuel from cans you should never need to change a fuel filter ,diesel yes but petrol cars i have never changed a fuel filter on a modern car with a fibre glass tank ,the old metal tanks then yes but on modern cars ---?= never had a problem
there is no external fuel filter on your jeep, in 1997 they changed the design and put a filter sock over the fuel pump intake in the fuel tank. they only get changed when you end up replacing the fuel pump
if you are not recieving any fuel from the gas tank to the engine, i would check the fuel pump relay located in a black box under your hood located on the drivers side, if your fuel pump relay checks out ok, then i would check the fuel filter, located under car, near the gas tank, question is has the fuel filter been changed, in a while , or how long has it been since it has been changed, if filter is changed, and still no fuel to engine, then i would suspect the fuel pump, and it is located inside of your fuel tank under the car, hope that this information has helped you.
the fuel filter is located on the passenger side rear inner frame in front of the rear wheel area there is only this filter that needs to be changed.there is a filter in the fuel tank on the bottom of the fuel pump which is only changed when the fuel pump is changed
There are only 3 possible locations for fuel filters on these cars. 1. located on passenger side firewall/wheelwell, 2. in-line underneath car, just follow the fuel line. 3. IN THE TANK. which will have to be pulled to get to.

The filter is located at the rear seat, you have to remove it first, then you will see a cap attach with some screws. Inside that cap you`ll find the fuel filter. Before you change the fuel filter you have to release the fuel pressure first. To do that, first find the FUEL PUMP RELAY in the main fuse box located in the engine. Once you located open the fuel door and take off the cap and leave it open. Start the engine, take off the FUEL PUMP RELAY and leave the engine stop itself, when this occurs turn off the key, the you can take off the filter and changed it
the fuel filter should be located on the inside of left frame rail about middle of truck. you will need 5/8" wrench for line nuts and adjustable to hold filter. and i think 13mm to remove bracket. take off fuel cap when changing filter.
