It sounds like you may have a wheel bearing going out. If you can try to isolate the noise it will help. We are starting to see the wheel bearings go out on these models. It could be front or rear. If you need any more help or need hel locating the parts please let me know.

I assume you are trying to talk about the console? Clicking which goes along with driving and increases in frequency in proportion to speed is usually a wheel bearing or CV joint.

Almost all vehicles won't reach the top speed as indicated on the speedo, This is done on purpose. Nobody needs to go that fast unless your on a track.

I hear a humming noise in the rear when driving my 2001 BMW 325I. Stops when in neutral. gets louder as I excellerate


I expect you have a damaged rear differential. It is a common problem on these BMW's. I have just had mine replaced. I used a second hand diff unit from a breakers, which cost £281 (inc VAT and delivery). It arrived the day after I ordered it. A decent garage will charge you less than £200 to fit it.

run scanner for trouble codes, some auto parts store will do this for free, sounds like too much fuel, have fuel injection system cleaned
