Question about 2003 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

The turn signals on my 2003 Impala intermittently stop working. They will work fine one minute and then the next time you use the signal they don't work. Sometimes if you leave the signal (left or right makes no difference)on it will come back. Activating the hazard lights also will work but not every time. It's very random when they go out (wet weather, dry, same trip, cutting the car off)

Sounds like your blinker relays are going out. Im not sure where they are located on your vehicle. but typically they are located in the interior fuse compartment of the vehicle

What part needs fixed when my turn signal blinker blinnks very fast and sometimes not at all.If I put pressure on the turn arm it will stop sometimes or clicking my high beams on or off sets it right

Flashing too fast means that at least one exterior bulb isn't working. IF its an intermittent problem, once bulb could not be making connection at times. next time its flashing fast, stop the car and look to see which bulb isn't working. Replace that bulb, clean the socket at the same time

Why does 2000 impala turn signals stop working?

I am told it is a relay in emergency flasher circuit.

The quick fix is to activate emergency flashers just for a few cylcles , a minute or two after car has been running. The directionals will work fine for the duration of that ride.

I have heard of peolple remvoving trim to get at switch, cleaning contacts and components of switch, but symptom eventually re-appeared. Cycling through e-flashers a few times works every time for me. - Rick Rock

Turn signals work fine one minute and then they stop. I can pull over to the side and turn car off and then on and it works fine or if I tap the hazard light switch they start to work. What is the problem.

The turn signals and hazard lights are controlled by the hazard switch, which is the button you push to engage your 4 way flashers. The electronics in the switch corrode over time and the result is an intermittant, no turn signal/no hazard light problem. Under most circumstances, replacing that switch eliminates the problem. There is another possbility, rare, but possible. That is, there is a problem with the BCM and/ or the ignition switch as some of the electronics run through the ignition switch. Usually if the switch is at fault, you will get a no-start condition WITHOUT the passlock security light, and possibly a random re-set of the cluster gages similar to what you see when first starting your vehicle. Have this checked by a qualified mechanic before spending money on a new ignition switch!

2003 Impala Brake lights dont work

The brake lights are routed through the signal light switch.
Looks like that will be the next switch to replace and the problem.
