I have the same car and problem and yeah its exactly that your low on tranny fluid, of course you can always pull the dipstick in the tranny with the car shut off (what my Manuel says, usually its hot and running mine says engine off) chances are your gonna be a quart low

1990 Honda Accord EX manual transmission sticks in 5th gear, if i come off an exit ramp at low speed or stop the transmission sticks in fifth gear and almost impossible to pull it out of fifth gear however...

I would check to see if the fluid is low, and replace it with Honda manual transmission fluid first. Honda manual transmissions originally used engine oil, never gear oil, then Honda came out with manual trans fluid. Either would work, but the Honda manual fluid would be better.

Rodney, sounds like a clutch problem to me, pressure plate is likely not releasing.

Transmission wont shift

I've had this problem before. You need to find your transmission computer from under your passenger side floor carpet and see if it looks burnt like this inside. If so, when you call the junkyards, make sure they have your exact year and trim of Accord, ie: LX, EX, SE, etc. Take the old one with you. It's important to know if the car has the sport shift button or not also.

Automatic Transmission shifting problems.

i had the same thing...It's the transmission. It's REALLY noticeable shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I was able to get my transmission fixed for 900 bux. That wasn't even a replacement so i can imagine how much it would cost to get it replaced. The shifting will get worse. By the end of my "experience" it wouldn't shift from 1st to 2nd for about 5 minutes until i drove it around for a bit. THen it would "warm up" to the idea of shifting to 2nd gear.

I am looking for a car for my daughter, and found a 94 honda accord ex in great physical condition. We have test drove this car and it drives nicely, but the 'D' light blinks when you put the car in drive...

You are a smart consumer. The flashing D is never good. It is saying the transmission is in need of repair. Newer Hondas also have diagnostic codes you can read with a scanner when D blinks. The 94 Accord has the old OBD-1. Perhaps the dealer could get some information from it with their specialized equipment. In any case, flashing D is almost always expensive, and it is suggested that it not be driven in this condition. Keep looking, lots of good Hondas out there.
Best of luck!

94 honda accord ''D4'' gear shift shift selector blinks

Theres a transmission cooling sensor and somtimes the wire comes loose from other repairs being done around it. or its just out. its on the left side sitting on the tranny. THATS WHY your d4 light is blinking

Honda Accord EX 94 vss has been replaced, but still nothing work

If all the connection and power supplies to instrument cluster are ok,I suspect that the speedometer or instrument cluster is faulty but before you replace it, make sure the gear inside the transmission that drives the VSS is in good.

Transmission shifts slugish

Hey buddy i have a 94 accord and i replaced the transmission and had the exact same problem. But it took me burning up the new tranny that was stuck in fourth gear on a hill to find out that the shift solenoids on the front of the tranny were bad. They are very expensive, so your best bet is to get them from a junkyard. Also i was told that my transmission control module could be bad, its located under the passenger side dash board, under the carpet. But luckily my problem was the solenoids, but i still had to put a second tranny in.
