Have you checked the fuel pump relay?and you know the fuel pump relay cuts off after about 2 seconds when turning the key on?So be sure the test light you are using is attached when turning the key on,it will come on,and then go off in about 2 seconds. The problem maybe the ignition module,or the pick up coil, the pulse the injectors, that deleiver the fuel to the cylinders.

Turn on ign. use the test lite to jump the ground side of relay then check voltage at tank connector.

Use the the test lite as a ground because the signal from the ECM is a ground not postitive. check for power at the selector switch.

1988 ford f 150 suddenly no power to fuel pumps

Hi Don,
your fuel pump is supplied voltage from the fuel pump relay which is supplied voltage from the EEC power relay ( fuel pump relay-Green Base, EEC power relay has a Brown Base) usually located on the left side(drivers side) of the engine compartment. These relays are supplied voltage from the fuse links at the starter solenoid on the firewall near the Battery, I hope this Helps Don!

Did you check the fuel pump relay connector?, this connector tends to accumulate lot of rust that makes bad connections and can't get the right voltage for closing the switch and the pump won't start. also check the fuel shutt off switch and it's connection.

I don't here the fuel pump ever kick on in my 1990 Ford F150, and I tested all of the fuses and they are good. I was thinking the relay for the fuel pump might be bad -- any suggestions?

It's under your hood, in one of those boxes, and should be marked. Your pump won't cut in if it's fried either. Check to see if there is power at the pump. Maybe you just have a loose wire. You can always hope!

Ford f150 fule pump

I think you called it a fuel shut off switch. It is under the dash on the passenger side. Your initial post said the button was not up but I have seen them go bad and not pass voltage even in  the down position.

Then the engine fuse may be blown it will be marked ECM I think, the fuel pump and injector circuits are two seperate systems, the fuel pump most likely has a stuck relay.
