Leak under dashboard

The only fluids under the dash are coolant that circulates through the heater core, or if you have a manual transmission a failed clutch master cylinder can leak brake fluid under the dash right where clutch pedal is located. If the heater core is leaking, it usually shows up on the passenger side. If it is just plain water, you need to check how rain water could be getting in past the firewall and under the dash.

Truck ran hot and when it cooled down put antifreeze in it notice it was running out from the bottom some where. Think I seen some type of steam coming up from the right passenger side,of what I'm not...

Well if the leak was starting from inside the car and dripping out the floor pan area, it is most definately a leaking heater core which is nothing more then a small radiator, however it is buried under the r/s dash behind the glove box and requires a bit of experience to R&R it properly, to be certain the core is at fault check the carpet on the pass side and see if it is wet under the dash area, if so it is the core if not you may have a rotted heater core hose or hoses, they(two of them) are the rubber hoses that sort of go from the pass. side of the engine through the passenger side firewall to meet up with the heater core supply nipples, they are both clamped on each end for secure fit, be sure before you do any work on the system that you let it sit and cool down as to avoid getting scolded by hot water/anti freeze, the two heater core hoses are distictly two different sizes one is 3/4" in diameter and the other is 5/8", both available at any parts store, dont forget to top off the anti freeze that leaked out using a 50/50 water to coolant mix.
After the repair is made and system is topped off....run the vehicle for about 1/2 hour and recheck for any possible further leaks, fix and repair as needed.

Nebraskadad2007@live.com. I bypassed my heater core till I'm able to get a new one but something is still leakin inside the van on both sides in front. Any ideas what to do or look for?

If you by-pass heater core, there's is no more coolant going into the dash (heater core), could just be left over coolant in a/c-heater housing, when it was leaking. There's nothing else under the dash the used cooling to work, but heater core, and that's by-pass.

WHY IS MY 98 PONTIAC SUNFIRE OVER HEATING? HAS NEW RADIATOR COOLING FAN NO LEAKS IN COOLING SYSTEM.

A thermostat that does not open and close would cause these very symptoms. Since it does not allow coolant to flow through the system, it will make the engine overheat. Since it won't allow the "heated" coolant to pass by your fan, the heat will continually blow cold air.
Stop driving the car immediately, becuase the next step will be some blown gaskets - especially head gasket. Other possible reasons can be as follows:-- It could be just low on coolant. if it is then add coolant... with low coolant the water pump can not move enough coolant to supply hot coolant to the heating system . also if its low the motor will over heat fast..... If the system is full then you may have other problems.. such as 1) bad thermostat 2) bad radiator cap ( not holding pressure so it will leak coolant) 3) blown head gasket . 4) bad heater core (leaking coolant out.. check the floor board under the dash on the passenger side.) 5) bad hose or clamp. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Leaking water from heater core 1999 gran prix

If leaking coolant under dash on passenger side floor broad it's your heater core. Call's for 2.8 labor flat time to remove heater core, in some case's you'll have to recover, evacuate and recharge your A/C system to remove your heater core.Sit under dash on passenger side.

Water leaks from under dash on the passenger and driver side and water leaks from the visors on both sides 1997 saturn s series

If you have a sunroof then the problem is most likely a drainage problem with the sun roof. The drains are blocked and the water is running down into the car.

The under the dash thing is the only thing that worries me. That is usually the location where the heater core will leak to. Are you sure it is water and not coolant? Coolant gives off a sweet smell and when it's hot you know cause it stinks.

But my money is on a sunroof leak and drainage problem if you indeed have a sunroof.

Heater takes to long to get hot and water is dripping form dashboaerd on passenger side i have a 2000 grand jeep cherokee

Sounds like one of two things are happening. Either the hose going to the heater core (on the engine side of the dash) is leaking causing coolant to spray into the passenger compartment or your heater core is leaking which is causing the dripping from the passenger side of the dash. This would also cause a loss of coolant in the engine which would cause the engine to overheat and not enough coolant to get to the heater core to supply heat to the passenger compartment. Check your coolant level (while engine is cold) and refill it with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water after you tighten the leaking hose or replace the heater core. Then start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature. Again let it cool down and then top off the radiator with the 50/50 mix of coolant. Do not under any circumstances open the radiator cap while the engine is hot.

Coolant level

could be coolant leak possibly water pump common for that car. how many miles. think t-belt and water pump. Would be better to do both. or coolant leak from coolant flange on left side of engine under the plastic covers pull covers off both top one and smaller side one you will be able to see coolant flange from that view. look for pinkish or white trail on block below the flange or if you can look on the right side of engine from under car to see if there is a trail on that side on the right side it will be leaking water pump.
