You need a new thermostat buddy, cause yours is bad or stuck.  Might as well put in new coolant while your at it since winter is coming around the corner.  Also, check all your coolant hoses for secure connection, no holes, and not rotted.  Also, check that your radiator doesn't have a pinhole leak.

Heater doesnt seem to be hot enough


Go under the hood and feel the heater hoses after the engine gets up to temp, if they seem really hot then you may have a problem with the HVAC air temperature control blend door.

Does the engine reach normal operating temp? Are the heater hoses hot? Also, could be a problem with temp control or temp door under the dash?

What is year--make--model? Does the engine temp reach normal operating temp? Do your heater hoses get hot? Is the heater core itself hot? If all that checks out, I'd have to check temp doors under the dash.

Do you live in an extremely cold region?

One side of heather hose gets hot


Turn the heater temp control to high, then other side will get hot as water flows thru heater.

Heater will not blow hot air


Assuming the radiator is full of coolant, and the engine is reaching normal temp of 190 degrees, you could have a blocked heater core or the temp control valve may not be working on the heater hose.
I would check to see if both heater hoses are getting hot.

Car warms up just fine but the heater blows cold air


both hoses is hot signifies thatcoolant circulation is just fine check the blend door actuator it might be stuck.pan the heater temp controller from hot to cold do you feel any change in temp of the air from the blower?if you dont feel any change check the blend door actuator

Defrost will not come out vents


Check your coolant level first. Next check your heater control valve. With engine at operating temp and heater on high, do this:

1. Heater hose from water pump should be hot (if not, water pump may be dead or thermostat is stuck closed)
2. Heater hose from thermostat housing should be hot (if not, thermostat may be stuck closed or water pump is dead)
3. Heater hose going to heater core should be hot ( if not, heater control valve is not getting vacuum from heater control unit, or valve is broken)
4. Heater hose returning from heater core should be hot (if not, heater core is blocked, undo both hoses to core and flush with water hose until clear)

Test thermostat: with cold engine cranked, watch water temp gauge. As it gets hotter and hotter, when the thermostat opens, the temp should drop suddenly and then go back up.

Test water pump: with engine at operating temp. Squeeze top radiator hose tight, when you release it, you should feel/hear a surge of water. It is much like when you pinch a water hose closed and release it.

Test vacuum from heater control unit to heater control valve: undue vacuum line from control valve. It should have a vacuum when pressed against you skin in addition to releasing the actuating arm on the control valve.

If there is no vacuum, a quick fix will be to disconnect the plastic actuator from the silver arm on the heater valve. This will let the hot water to always flow to your heater core.
