Question about 1993 Honda Accord

1 Answer

93 Accord sitting idle for over a year. It ran before storage. Upon attempt to get it back into service, found that fuel injectors are not working...all four spark plugs dry, although fuel is getting to fuel rail. Any way to check injector controller (sensor?) to see if it has gone bad? It was stored outside on a Minnesota farm.

Did you change the gasoline (Honda says that modern gas viability is about one month)? If not, good chance that the injectors are gummed up. A good injector cleaner (the kind you spray directly into the throttle housing--seafoam, I think, is one) sprayed in and let sit for a half hour of so, MIGHT, break things loose.

Use a noid light it plugs in to the injector plug and if injector is being commanded on and off the light should flash.

I put a new rebuild tranny in a 1995 Dakota 4 by4 and now it won't run for crud! Sometimes you can get it to idle for lil bit. But you can't rev it up it anything. Iv replaced the fuel pump ,throttle...

If the car shows these symptoms when in neutral, then it is likely not an issue with the transmission.
Start with checking the basics. You mention it had been sitting for two years. The first thing I'd do is drain the entire fuel system. Fuel usually won't sit for that long without waxing. This is where the make-up of the fuel itself changes over time and causes it to lose it's flammable nature. It will also tend to clog and damage components within the system, including the fuel pump and injectors. You MUST clean the system and refill with fresh pump fuel before attempting any further diagnosis.

Vibration at idle

it may be idle control sensor or a bad mas air flow sensor--maf sensor in otherwords. or could be engine misfire at cold temp. start. only time when cold? or does run better when warm? try warming engine to operating temperature before driving,if problem removes it's self after warm up,up grade gas to 93 octane for 1 tank full. then see if problem goes away. it's cold where you are right? if so the fuel needs to be at least midgrade 89 octane fuel because 87 octane fuel will not start your honda correctly at cold temps. in cold weather 93 or super gas octane will start ,no problem, low octane fuel sometimes gels, or freezes at low temps. if in warm climate, change the fuel filter, add fuel injector cleaner to your fuel tank[preferablly lucas fuel treatment] this will lube your fuel injectors and give better fuel mileage. thank you for choosing

yes it could be the fule filter . You will need to find out if there is fuel going to the injectors this is easy done by removing the inlet pipe to the injector rail and turning the ignition to postion 2 just before cranck. If there is no sign of fule then it couls be your filter .If there is fuel at the injector rail let me no and i will assits further

check your wiring for dirty connections or broken wires, you may have wires that are rubbed through or connectors that are not making full contact. you will need an ohm meter and check wires for continuity. a wiring diagram will be needed.
