Question about Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

I have a 1988 nissan maxima. Everytime I put more than 9 gal. of fuel in tank, my car wants to hesitate, and not get over 35mpg. Eventually, I am able to operate my car as if nothing happened. I have replaced the fuel filter, and the symptons still arise. I am thinking it is the fuel filter. The check engine light came on after the problem started. I have some buddies to help me, but they want to know what is going on w/ my car, before they help me with fixing it. This only happens when I place 10gals of more of fuel im tank. I was in raleigh, nc earlier this afternoon, and I went out to crank my car to leave, but it would not turn over. The battery stayed strong after numerous attempts to crank the car. Finally, the care cranked and I made my eay back to creedmoor, nc that is about 20 miles N of raleigh. I came inside for a bit, and I have to go to the atm. The car started acting up again. Is it the fuel pump or engine gunk in the tank? I would appreciate you help. thanks

First thing is, check your spark plugs and leads, If these are fine get 1 liter of methylated sprites and add to a full tank of fuel... This will clean out your fuel system... Let me know whats happens...

2000 nissan maxima engine hesitation problems

Has your Nissan sat for a period of time? If so, could be dirty gas...try adding 2 bottles of Heet gas line antifreeze and injection cleaner..also as this works, be sure not to let the gas level go below 1/4 tank...If needed check air filter dirty...throttle body dirty...Hope this helps.

I have a 1987 nissan maxima and i smell fuel everytime i get out of the car coming from the rear.

I had a simimilar problem with a mazda mpv. start with checking your fuel gauge level then check for a leak.do this after you driven the car for a while.knowing that it is an older car it could be rusted fuel lines or paunctured fuel tank.

1990 Nissan Maxima Hard Starting

Hi.....
I recomand for your NISSAN.
replace the fuel filter, because they are Built on Metal and Cartoon, Throught the time The metal come corroded. The cartoon to fail apart.
Making a Obstruction of the Fuel pressure.

Replace the Air Filter. and inspect the Spark plugs.
They come corroded at outside of the Body. making the spark droped a metal.
Check the condition of the wires.

But one of the more important things IS The Distributor CAP and ROTOR. with the pass of the time they come corroded inside on the contact to each Spark plug wire.
Just Remove and Inspect, clean as nessesary. or replace.

Don't Put to much ADDITIVES. on a Single Fueled tank.
You can use if you want. But depend of the indication on back of the Bottle. Example. 1 for up to 20 gallons. 1 for up 25 gls. ECT...

OK... I hope this help on your question. and try to fix your vehicle//

Thank you for use fixya.....
