I just replaced the starter about 4 weeks ago. Isn't the relay built in? Could it go bad that fast? I didn't buy the "cheapie" starters. I went to Napa and got the best one they had.

The battery is new. I replaced it 4 weeks ago thinking it was the problem, and then I found out it was the starter. The solenoid was built in. I purchased a good starter from Napa -- the most expensive and heavy duty one that they had.

I was wondering if it could be the fuel pump or fuel filter. I had those replaced, but it has been about 5 years ago.

Thanks for your help. I wish I had a mechanic here I could trust to help me out. So far, they see a woman and the price multiplies out the roof! Female doesn't equal dumb! LOL

    Thanks again.

First check to battery to make sure it has not gone dead for some reason.
Wiggle the gear shift and try putting it in neutral.
Hold your foot on the brake.
Thats all the easy stuff, if it were me I would get under it with a test light and see if there is power getting to the ignition switch side of the solenoid on the starter.
Someone has to hold the key in the start position for you.
Be carefull battery voltage shorted to ground with a tool is dangerous (and painful)
Let me know. Lee

I have a 95 honda civic ex,wont start.ran fine yesterday,wont start this morning.battery is fully charged,new cap and rotor.would do u think might b my problem

if it wont turn over 1st check the ground s on the car and the battery 1st. your battery can be fully charged and the car will not start even over night this can happen. then look at the starter. Note: if you have over 109K on the car and the timing belt has never been replaced you will need to have this checked as well.

Hello. My 1997 Chevy Tahoe refuses to start. The problems began with a bad fuel pump. I changed. It worked. The fuel pump died again. I changed it again and it has been working. I parked it for two weeks....

Now you have a good battery & a starter that turns over the motor

Have you cycled the key on & off with a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail?

Do you have a fuel filter that isn't over 3 or 4 years old?

Have you checked for spark while cranking ? Use an old plug on the wires,
if you have ignition wires, don't ground the wire without resistance

If you removed the ducting & MAF Sensor it won't start

Tell us what you checked & exactly how that was done.
