Your speedometer quit probably from a faulty speed sensor,which in turn since the computer doesn't see and speedometer action it thinks you are sitting still and won't let the transmission shift up

your torque converter maybe to blame here. a simple fluid pressure test will tell you that. if the pressure is good, your valve bod might be due for a change.
