Question about 2006 Hyundai Sonata
My passenger sun visor on my 2006 Hyundai Sonata got a lot of use when I had a passenger driving to Canada one weekend. Right after that it started to sag. A few weeks later the driver's side visor started to sag too after I lowered it and heard a crack sound. I definitely did not use excessive force to lower it. The car also has 60,000 miles on it similar to another writer's car. Shouldn't this be a recall problem? It's costing me over $200 dollars to have them replaced by the dealer.
Not a recall problem and iits considered a wear down part like brakes

SOURCE: Sun visor on driver's side
I had the same problem in my 06 Sonata. The mechinism in the fisor that creates tension to hold it in place broke. It seems there is a certain position that if you try to rotate up or down, it cracks and goes limp. $115 for new one.

SOURCE: sun visor replacement
You unscrew the two bolts and gently take the visor off the mount. There will be a wire attached that has a plastic male/female connection that can be pulled apart. Do this gently. The wire is the power connection for the vanity light located within the visor.

As they work on friction you may be able to
compress the material on the outside which will then give the inside more grip.
Put a cloth around the top of the visor to protect the material and use Mole grips with the half circle jaws or pliers of the same construction grips to squeeze the area around where the rod enters the visor
Other option is a wreckers yard?
