The dommed part of the T-stat goes up, it won't go in backwards as memory serves me, what u almost certainly have going on here is the Air temperature control electric bend door actuator s defective, and the door is stuck in the cold air position in the heating/ac duct, to replace this the dash must be removed from the car..

1997 lumina temp gauge goes above normal with no heat, then gauge drops to normal then gives heat, repeats this over & over ???

Have you ever replaced the thermostat? Any applicable trouble codes? When problem is ongoing, are your heater hoses hot? If there is coolant flow through heater core, you should have heat.

No heat coming from the vents.

If it is a manual system--sounds like coolant low ie: air bubble in system. If it is ATC system, Check Codes, if no failure codes, coolant may be low--air bubble in system--most Durango's have air bleeders in system.

I have a 2000 Mercury Cougar and the gauge inside tells me that the engine is over heating, no heat is coming from the heater when I turn it on, the fan for the engine is running at full blast, the engine...

Hi,

The overheating and lack of cabin heat both point to a failed engine thermostat which would be stuck closed. At the warm up stage, the coolant stays in the engine block to bring the engine to efficient operating temperature, then it opens and circulates the coolant through the radiator and heat core. If the thermostat is stuck closed, the engine will overheat, and coolant will never reach the heater core, and you will not get cabin heat.

Blinking oil light at idle which goes away during driving could be a low oil level, but may also be a drop in oil pressue. You could have a clogged oil fliter (at best) pickup tube, or a failing oil pump.

Changed thermostat and flushed heater core heat is warm, not hot.. and temp. gauge works sitting still but goes down back to 0 when driving

SOUND LIKE PROBLEMS IN THE AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL DOOR NOT OPENING.CLIMATE CONTROL VECHICLE HAS TO BE HOOKED TO DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO CHECK.IF YOU REPLACED THERMOSTAT.FLUSHED HEATER CORE AND RADIATOR.YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AMOUNT COOLANT IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM.LET DEALERSHIP CHECK IT OUT.

My car take a while to heat up and the heat comes and goes. What is the problem?

check coolant level
is the heat gauge LOWER then normal if so
replace the thermostat
if the engine temp. is normal then feel the heater hoses both should be HOT not WARM
if they are not HOT then you have a flow problem poss pluged heater core you may need the heater core back flushed
hope this helps

No heat in a 98 Mazda Protege

See what your rad fan is doing with setting at heat, not defrost. It should only come on when temp gauge gets up around operating temperature.

1999 Dodge Durango is not getting enough heat. Replaced thermostat and still not much heat and the temp gauge only goes to about 150 degrees. Please help!!! My wife is so COLD!!!!

Make sure you chek out the coolent level and if the level is fine, the next step to go is the heater core. it should be one of these 2 solutions!!

No heat. Temp gauge barely moves, but hoses to/from core are hot

If the temp. gauge on the instrument panel is OK, test and eventually replace the temperature sender, and check the wiring to temperature sender.

Replacing the whole heater core is not a simple operation, test sender and wiring first.

No heat

Hey jacob, there are a number of things that can be wrong, let's start w/ easy cheap ones...1st, the easiest one is low coolant. If the level is low, it won't circulate thru the heater core, so no heat. 2nd thermostat stuck open. If this happens, the engine won't reach peak operating temp, and again, no heat. Pretty easy to check, is your car running cold (or low normal range?) If the temp gauge shows it's warming up in 5 - 10 minutes of driving, and is in normal range, then it probably isn't the thermostat. 3rd dash control that you use to select heat setting is either vacuum controlled (no vacuum @ switch possibly) or thermostatically controlled (faulty control), both of these could result in no flow of coolant to heater core, 4th a plugged up heater core (rust and corrosion) preventing coolant from flowing thru heater core. Let me know how u make out.
